I've only been there a couple times but I found some cool stuff. I found two Coach bags one giant diaper bag C signature fabric type thing that's in really bad shape, and that saddle bag that I already talked about. I've also found other really cool vintage things besides purses, I found a copper trivet that I love from about the 1980s. I found a protect the back sling bag which is in really really good shape leather. I found some other designer names Dooney & Bourke and others. I found the motherlode of 100% silk beautiful ties from Italy and France and designer brands and of course a giant bag of those cost me probably 10 bucks. I really don't know what I'm going to do with them probably sell on eBay.
I inherited my father's ties. I tried to sell them but they took forever. The only one I sold was a Gucci that I had to discount greatly.

I can't figure out how I have 3 or 4 pairs of shoes that are missing one shoe.
Never lost any shoes, but socks were getting lost all the time until I requested they be tied with fabric hair bands before being put in the dirty clothes hamper. These can go through the washer and the drier and be put up as a pair. TG no more looking for some lonely socks.
And arghh I am always loosing track of this thread, despite it being "watched" :*(

Oh please Connie, keep on hoggin' I also love your posts and am constantly surprised as to what you are willing to tackle and what you are able to accomplish.
Thank you! I'm having fun. I found this VERY beat up Latico.com bag at the bin store, but it's amazing quality leather. I bought it to harvest the strap, but now I'm rehabbing it. I fixed the broken zipper, and so far, leather CPR has brought it back to life. The zipper was cut. I cut off the end of it, rethreaded it, and then sewed with thread a new end stop. Took the little green piece of leather off from the cut end, and recemented it. Looks great. Works great. The bag just doesn't open quite as fully...

I feel like I'm "hogging" the rehab thread. Please, someone else share some pictures and rehab stories! x o
I continue to learn so much from you, Connie! Awhile back I posted a briefcase with mold freckles on it. I sprayed it with vinegar then gave it several rounds of Leather CPR and reshaped.

It's been at the cobbler's for over a month now, waiting to have some stitching done. Between vacation and Covid, he's behind on his work. Once I get the bag back and work on it a bit more, I'll post my 'after.'

Hi everyone,

I am working on an equestrian tote (9804). It has some splotches on the front and some ink stains inside. I didn't dunk for fear of the ink stains spreading and maybe moving to the outside, but my saddle soap cleaning hasn't given the bag the smooshy firmness that I love from dunking. And the splotches are still looking splotchy. Should I live with it (I can)? Or should I be bold and dunk? Advice welcome!

Here's what I would do. I would use fine grit sandpaper on the inner ink marks. See if they go all the way through. It doesn't look like they are that severe! Then I would dunk. My rehab bags' ink blots tend to look more like this. (First pic). :P I had a Casey with an ink mark that already showed on the outside, and I dunked. It did not spread. (Second pic). Good luck! ETA: I've read here that people soak their bags for 15-20 minutes. I don't do that. My dunks are 5 minutes, tops! Maybe you should do a quickie dunk. I don't know if that makes a difference in how "loosened up" the ink might get.

I agree with Connie, those ink stains don't look bad enough to spread to the outside.

Thanks so much Connie! Five minute dunks! Wow. I am going to change my method---I think I have been leaving mine in for too long.

I will report back!
