I have the suede BT one!I have a few of these style bags. For me, they're more collector pieces, rather than bags to carry around. My fun is just looking at them which I do everyday! (I have one in rust color!) This black one I got for re-selling.
You could always clip a long strap to it. The handles would fall to the sides, but the bag would be useful and wearable. Just a thought!Do you carry bags like this very often? I have one and love the way it looks but rarely carry it since it is hand carry.
That’s cool. I have not done edge coating yet. It can take a little patience, but there is so much info here if one is willing to search. IHi everyone,
I just bought a Bleecker duffle that will need new edgecoat on the strap. I'm pretty sure I know how to do that, though this would be my first time using it. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions as I read it can be tricky.
Thanks!
ETA read through this thread and I think I got my answers!
Honestly I wish they wouldn't use edgecoat, yes it looks nice FOR A WHILE but then it looks terrible. I'm not too picky, maybe I will just... Do something else haha! That’s cool. It probably helps that my day job involves pouring over documents.

That's what is so nice about the vintage styles - no edgecoat. If the edges get a little rough, you can rub a bit of glue or dye along the edge to smooth it out.Honestly I wish they wouldn't use edgecoat, yes it looks nice FOR A WHILE but then it looks terrible. Exactly. I really hate edgecoat. I will rip it all off if I have to. I'm fine with repairing the strap but don't know if I want to devote much time to edgecoat due to my very low tolerance for frustration. That's what is so nice about the vintage styles - no edgecoat. You could attach one end to a front ring and one end diagonally to the back maybe? I can't really do strictly hand held bags myself, I like both hands free.I've thought about that, but I'm not sure how it would look.
Any idea what the internal stain on the left one is? There is a chance it could spread/get bigger if dunked. Other than that, I think they would both benefit from a dunk. Don't dunk until you have all the correct materials at hand. You'll at least need Leather CPR. You can use any dishwashing liquid for dunking as long as it doesn't have anything harsh in it like bleach. You can put extra soap on the dirty spots and lightly scrub them. You can scrub harder on the inside than on the outside as you don't want to damage the leather's surface. Let soak for 15-20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly, wrap in towels and pat dry. Lay them out on towels to dry, lightly stuffing with towels to get them to the shape you want them to dry in. Make sure the area they are drying isn't too warm or moist - you don't want to encourage mold growth. You can flip them around after awhile so they can dry more on the other side. When they are almost dry, remove the towels inside, and start conditioning.Hi everyone! It's my first time posting on this thread. First time seriously considering to rehab a Coach bag as well. So I have 2 9027 lavender mini ergos. The one on the left has more stains and an internal stain but hardly any edge scuffing. The one on the right has one watermark/oil spot and scuffing on the edges, is also more faded in colour than the one on the left, but otherwise all good. I'm looking to rehab them and keep the better one, while selling off the other. But because it's my first rehab, I'm really scared especially when it comes to dunking these vintage leather bags, also especially because these 2 ergos are light colours. Would appreciate it so so much if anyone has any best advice for me on what I should do with this bags. I'm afraid of colour fading especially since lavender is a rare colour. Currently I only have Chemical Guys leather cleaner and conditioner, nothing else - which unfortunately I've read is not the best for Coach vintage bags. Thank you so so very much in advance![]()
Whenever I read someone is not a fan of BT, I think, well that means more BT for me haha!Finished these two....well apart from polishing buckles...I really can't be bothered doing that.
And I forgot to do before photos on the small flap.View attachment 6045726View attachment 6045727View attachment 6045728View attachment 6045729
