Well, I do like a challenge! As you can see by my avatar, I like this style 9990 small framed pouch. I got an offer I couldn't refuse..$20 on a bone one. Only it's dirty, dingy, discolored, etc. Structurally, looks great! How to approach cleaning - restoring color on this? Any best product suggestions? Thanks!

You could try putting it inside a net laundry bag and running it through the washing machine. I've done that and sometimes it really helps, but I've also had some big disappointments with badly soiled white/light bag - I just couldn't get them to look good. I've never dyed a bag but that might be an option? Good luck!

What are the chances one of you lovely folks has a strap in your box of spare parts that a) would fit this buckle b) matches this leather and c) you’d be willing to sell me?

I think you are lucky in that this bag has so many colors. So, I think any one of the colors could be picked up for a strap. There is also someone on here who used a Coach leather chain strap (multi-color) which perhaps could work. I picked up a whitish (bone ?) pocket purse sans strap for good money and opted for a wide clear acrylic strap. Maybe I will weave through some ribbon to match/complement my outfit, if I know that I will carry this purse for a special occasion. There is a woven (metal chain) strap posted on here, where I got the idea. I was worried that I would not be able to find the right color strap, but if I come across one, I will buy it. In the meantime, the clear one will do me.

Beautiful! I've used metal chain replacement straps successfully on a few smaller bags, like my Gracie and Suede Fringe Dinky, see below. I've never tried a chain strap on a larger bag, but I think your suggestion of picking up colors in the bag is a good idea!

I have also seen examples of artistically braided scarves being used as straps, which might work with the idea of picking up colors from the bag.

It might be easier to modify a dark brown woven leather belt and use it as a strap, sort of like the belt at the link below:

I see this bag for sale cheapcheap but I don’t know how wide the strap is. I searched online for similar styles but no one has a strap measurement. Message to seller has gone unanswered unfortunately. :( I wouldn’t mind scavenging the strap as the bag is obviously in terrible condition.IMG_1432.pngIMG_1433.pngIMG_1434.png

Looks like a good candidate for dyeing.

Yikes! It's got measles!
I posted this because I've never seen mold on one of these bleeker(?) buckle bags, which I think have a coating on the leather - at least moreso than the 80s vintage bags. I didn't think this type of leather could do this.

Everything I know about mold I learned on this thread - I bought some damp rid and made sure every tote contains some. Also use those silica packets if you sell a bag in the winter.
