I'll be starting on these two blavy bags today. They are both quite discolored. The Oliver is so faded on the outside it almost looks olive green, like a pukey olive green. Lol. I love this bag though. I have to decide if I want to keep it or the black Fulton I just got. I've decided I can't keep them both. My idea of bag ban discipline... Chances are I'll love them both so much that I'll keep them both, or sell one, deeply regret it, and search the ends of the world until I find another one. Lol.

The other blavy bag has some kind of strange iridescence under the flap. This one has saggy strap attachments too. I'm not sure how I'll be dealing with that yet... I guess I'll see what the rahab does first

Should be a couple of interesting rehabs!

Dealing with something weird. Working on this briefcase, and it appears that a prior owner (probably GLC) had sprayed some kind of water repellant on the bag. Generously coated! Some of it is coming off like dead skin being exfoliated, and some of it isn't. I dunked and actually scrubbed parts with my fingers and a teflon kitchen scrubbie. Anyone know of a product for removing that? Maybe I should dunk again? Regarding the initialing, the gold came off and now I need to figure how to remove the indentations. I'm going to replace the front turnlocks (one is missing prongs and backplate, and neither of then will turn much. I think they're rusted inside). Hopefully, this bag will regain some of its prior glory. I actually love it.

Lincoln EZ Cleaner. You shake it up, then use the foam to clean. It works well on pig suede, not so good on cow suede.
Just wanted to say that unfortunately the pen marks are still there, not a single one gone. The overall condition of the liner is better, it is clean for sure.
I only wanted to mention this as a reminder, that unfortunately what it works in some cases do not on others. May be the marks have been there since the purse was bought, the type of ink, etc.... all reasons why didn't come out. It is the gamble that we take, and we all learn from experiences, so thank you again whateve for trying to help.

I'm sorry! I used it on more than one bag and it worked for me.

After second dunk, and corroded hardware removal. I tried "massaging" the leather to minimize the initials. I think it's working.

I wonder if lightly steaming the initials would help remove the indentations...? I'm not sure why I thought of this, maybe it has been tried before, but if it were my bag, I would dig out my clothing steamer and gently try it.

Thank you! I'll give that a go!

Upddate on my progress. According to Hyacinthe, this bag dates from the late 70s, early 80's. 40+ years. I think it's in amazingly good condition, actually. Maybe the water repellant put on it way back when was a good thing...? The leather is gorgeous. I think I scrubbed most of the surface weirdness off.

I'd love to hear how the steam works if you decide to try it!

Hello

I bought this slim satchel compact (authenticated on the forums) for £9 off eBay recently ($11 roughly) and have just done a rehab on it. I am pretty pleased with how it has come out as it is my first ever rehab. It’s not up to expert rehabbers standards I’m sure but for a first go I’m pleased.
The bag had lots of scratches on it and had a nasty spillage stain on the back. I couldn’t get this off totally but made it much less noticeable.
I’m planning on rehabbing my tan Devon bag next This is quite addictive!

for $11 that was an incredible deal and it looks great! You really have to hustle to get vintage coach on ebay for $20 or less anymore - great find!
