I’m definitely addicted to thrifting and rehabbing coach bags now… I used to wonder how people accumulated a backlog of rehabs but then today I just picked up 3 to add to my list…

I did leave this one behind because it was in real rough shape. Small hole in the piping, couple of paint spots or streaks. Now I’m kind of regretting it… View attachment 5650364
That looks like a lightweights, which are harder to rehab, so maybe it is best you left it behind. What did you get?

It looks like that paint would pick off with fingernail or the like. If it’s cheap, go get it!

Tomorrow is the thrift shop Veterans Day sale so it would be less than $10… might go back if the weather cooperates! It does look like one of those lightweight collection bags but since I like it for myself and I’m new at rehab maybe if would be good practice.

My other finds were in much better shape! The lightest one has a pen streak but otherwise looks very nice. The others mostly look smooshed. Need to take better pics to ID and authenticate but here’s the quick snaps!

Is the first one a Metropolis, anybody know? I have one of those, I concluded Metropolis but without the style number in the creed, it is hard to know.

According to the creeds, I have an Anderson crossbody from 1996 (style no 9976), a mini ergo from 1998 (9027), and a Sutton from 2000 (9814)!

I still have a lot to learn about authenticating but it’s easier in person to check quality details. Then I just google the style number to see if it comes up with a bag that looks like the one I have and check the plant code. Plus all but one of my purchases has been under $20 so I figure if they’re fake it’s better to get them out of circulation. That and the rehab itself have been very interesting new hobbies!

THANK YOU! I don't think I've ever seen one of these, or even heard of this bag!
Until I saw this stock photo, I didn't notice the knob adjuster on the strap, because mine was extended to the furthest hole and the strap sleeve covers it a little.

OK well, the good news is, at least the exposed screw was not a letter "C" or some unique embellishment. I doubt anybody has replacement parts for this particular bag. Maybe just a brass button of some sort like you suggested.
The one in the first picture I shared is one I restored with a new brass button. It looked just fine, not the same, but still good. You can get solid brass snaps from Buckleguy for sure. They usually only sell them in large quantities though, so that's the drawback. If you don't want to have to buy a snap setter too, you can get Chicago screw snaps, like this: https://www.buckleguy.com/cs7705-fl...post-natural-brass-solid-brass-ll-50-per-bag/
Just measure the post length of the screw. They have various sizes at Buckleguy.

Where do you live??? In the Pacific Northwest, thrift shopping has become quite expensive. It's hard to find bags like this so easily without paying like $50.00 or something. I noticed on the East Coast, thrift stores seem to be much more reasonable.

Yes, east coast. And near enough to some big cities that there are many many thrift stores. Over the last couple of months I’ve picked up 8 bags. My priciest was $40 and my cheapest was free (Facebook buy nothing group!) most have been in the $20-$25 range.

Lucky!!! That's awesome. Whenever I go to the East Coast I make it a point to go to thrift stores. Way better deals there!

Update: She turned out wonderful!!! She will last another 30!!
She went from this to this!!

Hi there, I'm in bone hell with an NYC Madison that has green undertones and a bone swinger that looks worse than your before pictures. You mentioned you used bone "shoe cream" for these results? Which brand? And did you try what has been suggested here - mix the color with CPR? Like all of us here, I want to retouch the color but I don't want that painted or shoe polish look.
Yours looks natural and great!
