I'm dipping my toes back into the rehab pool today with two Tribeca totes in ink (plum? eggplant?) and currant. I'm excited to carry these beauties when they're done! I bought the currant tote to pair with my currant Willis on those days when I have a little extra stuff to carry around with me. Stay tuned for after pics!

Ahhh...these are on my wish list as well.....My God...Its getting longer and longer!!!!!

Wanted to thank @katev for the Wenol recommendation to clean tarnish from brass hardware. I bought some last year and finally tried it today. It works wonderfully on hardware like the hangtag ball chain and buckles. I used it with Q-tips on grommets and rivets and went back over them with Pro Polishing squares (Amazon). For zipper teeth, I ended up using the squares as I felt I could get a good grip on them.

Thank you for the advice. Last question, what kind of dye should I get?
I had excellent results with Feibings dye on an ink stained Anderson bag, but as Whateve indicated, each project is different and may have different results depending on leather conditions-ie how it was tanned- products used on the leather in the past, etc. The leather on your bag looks like vachetta, which is vegetable tanned, so a google search of which dye works on vegetable tanned leather might help. Good luck! It’s a very nice bag and has great potential!

EDIT- I will say that I tried to use Feibings on a Dooney bag and it was a failure due to the tanning process used on the all weather leather. The dye just didn’t absorb. But I have used it on belts, shoes and wallets with great success, so it just depends.

Any ideas on how to repair a minor abrasion in the leather? As I was going through Leather CPR steps, I noticed this cut in the leather that I hadn’t felt during the dunking. It doesn’t go all the way through to the suede. Is there a glue or other product I can use to smoothen the area and tack down the loose flap?

Looking for winter projects and found this beauty. I remember reading someone's posts about removing dye but can't find it. I am not sure if this is polish or dye. Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try an acetone test. In a hidden spot, rub a q tip dipped in acetone nail polish remover and see if the color comes off. If it does, you can go ahead and remove the black and rehab the burgundy. If it doesn’t come off, then another coat of black dye is in order.
But- I’m wondering what is hiding under that black that would motivate someone to put it on to begin with? If you get the black off and the burgundy is not in good condition then just dye it black again.

Good luck! I’ll cross my fingers that the burgundy is recoverable! I’ll look forward to your progress posts!

It did come off slightly but left the leather matte black. Does it take elbow grease to completely remove the dye? Whoever did this was very meticulous

Leather cement.

Glad that Wenol worked well for you, I use it often!

Well. My purple Tribeca tote was a bust. It came out of the dunk with lots of dark stains that I couldn't get rid of. Some were there before the dunk, they are visible in the before photo, but I swear more came out in the bath and I couldn't get rid of the ones I already knew were there. So I bought another one to try again :frown:. The currant tote will get dunked this weekend, hopefully that one turns out better. It's in worse shape than the purple one was but it doesn't have any stains so I'm optimistic.

Has anyone had any luck removing dark stains? They look like grease smears or something. I soaked them with a degreaser but they are stubborn.
