Could be mold. Some of it is just worn out. The darkness on the handles is oil. Whatever the stains are, I doubt they will wash out. If you get it, I would put the bag in the washing machine and plan on painting/dyeing the leather parts.
Part of me was still hoping that there’s a chance. I love how sturdy looking it is. Could you please tell me more about dyeing the leather?

Most leather dyes are painted on. It would be a bit tricky keeping it off the fabric. If you wanted to stay close to the original color, it would likely take several coats to cover. A darker color would cover easier.

So I had ZERO interest in ever owning another Plaza again (anyone remember my Plaza disaster of 2020?) & I was being pretty good about my bag ban, but then, I accidentally found this burgundy small Plaza listed locally! It was a really good price & there were no shipping costs involved! I did the best I could to even out the sun fading & overall Im very happy with it!

Bikini lines!

It's a sad fact that bags/shipping and restoration equipment/products cost us significantly more in Canada, New Zealand and other countries. It doesn't seem to stop us, though! :P
I can’t help my scavenger ways, and grabbed a large wooden shipping crate that a neighbour had left for trash pickup. I think it was probably meant to send a painting. Anyways, the shipping label was still attached. It cost over $850CAD just to ship!!!!!:wtf:
I will think of that the next time I complain about shipping.

Yup, I'd like to try it maybe on one of these next bags. I've seen the videos by Debi the Restorer, and she shows how to use something flat like a file I believe, and pry up the prongs gently. I'm just afraid I will snap the teeth and I think those replacement parts are not always easy to source.
The Buckle Guy has turnlocks that are a perfect match if you can’t reuse the old ones. I reuse the back ring of the female part because the replacement has the divets but you can’t tell the difference with the new one vs. original.

Hello fellow rehabbers!

I received this bone city bag today and didn’t inspect it well enough before I accepted the order…it looks like there were stains on it that the last owner attempted to remove, but also removed the color as well. Do you have any suggestions to fix it? I was think of using Meltonian in ivory or winter white? Or do I use paint? I’ve never tried it before. I would start with Meltonian. It is easy to use, cost-effective and good for the leather. Let us know how it goes.

More opinions are welcome.
