This side pack has had a customised snip and holes made. I'm pretty short and this doesn't really fit cross body. I didn't know we could snip them like this :hrmm:

That is incredible! Good work!! I'm happy when I can say, I have not bought one this week. After the issues of vintage bags only to be told they explained they're vintage condition when they arrive. I think I might have to do the same

It’s not easy. haha! It required me to keep myself from logging in here. Since I logged back in, I found myself on eBay and Etsy looking. I kept on telling myself “I’m just gonna take a peek”. Lol! Who am I kidding?

It's not good if you ever want to sell it. I've bought more than one bag without realizing the strap was cut until I got it home. People did it a lot when crossbody was out of fashion.

Yeah coach addiction is not really a spectator sport  November is still pretty amazing

It wouldn't fit anyone and the structure of the strap isn't great. I don't think I could sell it. That's interesting they did that. On the side pack which doesn't have a removable strap it's super silly

Hi all! New to this forum and so glad I found it! I purchased a bag at Goodwill and the ladies over on the authentication page said it was a Coach bag from the late 70’s or early 80’s. I’ve been skimming through the posts here on this forum and I notice a lot of people say they wash their bags. I’m just wondering if anyone can give me an idea on the process of cleaning my new bag up. It does not have to be perfect as it’s not in horrible shape but I’d like to make it look as nice as possible. And what does everyone use when they say they are washing and conditioning their bag? Thanks in advance and pictures attached
Hello! I saw no one replied to you so I thought I would just give you a basic outline of how to rehab a bag. Your bag seems like it's in good shape so it will probably be an easy rehab.

Supplies you will need: mild dish soap, towels, and leather conditioner without silicone (leather CPR is good). I use Dawn, Leather CPR and then Blackrock's leather n' rich

Basically you want to shake the bag out to get any loose things out, then soak the bag in room temp water with a small squirt of dawn dish soap (it is important that the soap be mild). I soak bags for about 20 minutes. After the bag is saturated, use a rag/washcloth to gently wipe down and clean the whole bag, especially the nooks and crannies in pockets etc. Don't scrub the outside leather too hard as you can damage the leather; the inside suede you can be a bit more aggressive with. Let it soak for the 20 minutes, then rinse and soak with clean water to get all the soap out (shorter time). Pat the bag dry when it is all rinsed and place it on a towel to dry stuffed loosely to shape it with rags/towels (for a small bag cleaning cloths or dishcloths work well. For the inside pocket of your bag (basic bag) I generally use a piece of folded up paper towel so that the pocket doesn't get distorted. After a few hours- it depends on how the individual bag dries - take the towels out and let it finish air drying. Move the bag around a bit while drying so that all parts get dried.

I generally start to condition the bag while it is still slightly damp. Here on the forum Leather CPR is the favoured conditioner and that is what I use - it's easy to apply and doesn't change the color of the leather, important with a light colored bag such as yours. It is also very conditioning. Apply the conditioner to all the smooth leather sides to remoisturize after the bath and let the bag dry for a day. You can reapply conditioner several times depending on the condition and dryness of the bag. Generally, after all the coats of conditioner, people here advise using blackrocks leather n rich as a finishing protective coat. This is a conditioner that has some wax in it and it is especially good at bringing back the edges of bags and evening out color. When using blackrocks apply it very very sparingly and follow the instructions to wipe off afterwards to avoid the leather getting tacky. After the blackrocks has dried you then buff the bag (I use a microfiber cloth) and then admire the shine on your bag :)

And then you are done! I just wrote this very quickly, so please check this section of the forum for more tips. Hopefully I didn't forget anything. *Leather CPR and blackrocks are avail on amazon and both last a long time.

For more info on this look up member katev's posts - she has rehabbed almost every type of bag and keeps through accounts on here of her methods.

Hi all! I just posted my 1960s double entry swinger (@whateve was gracious
Enough to let me know what the actual name was) in the authentication thread and so now I wanted to come here and ask if anyone has any tips on how to rehab it.

The leather is in pretty nice condition but the metal frame and chains has a lot of color loss, the lining is pulled out of the frame on one side, and a one ball foot needs to be re-attached more securely. I’m assuming the metal used was not solid brass. Considering it looks like the plating or lacquer is gone.

I’m inclined to send it to a specialist, but wanted to get your opinions first!

Hi, just wondering if you were able to repair your Cashin Double Swinger?

Some of the pictures are poor but this looks like a vintage red Madison Carlyle 4401, made in Italy, for $40 plus shipping listed on Facebook Marketplace:

I previously rehabbed a red Carlyle and it is one of my favorite bags:

Somebody bought the red Carlyle for $40, I'm hoping that it was somebody here?

Any luck yet about getting a refund?

Not yet :(. PayPal sent me an email that they’ve requested “more information” from her. She refuses to admit the bag is polished & thinks Im trying to keep it for free. When I opened my PayPal claim, I checked the “willing to return” option which shows in the claim details & I sent her a message saying I didn’t wanna keep the bag.

I will update on the outcome when I hear back from PayPal. I plan to fight this until I exhaust all my options.
