Did you use it on the suede interior? I have a little bottle of it somewhere. I know, a real shot gun attempt going on!FYI...I used tea tree oil since I had some on hand and that also worked for me.

Try spraying it with concrobium mold control spray (you can get at home depot) I had a musty bag that remained musty until I used that. Sun and vinegar helped, but the mold control was the thing that finally killed the smell. The bag now smells of nothing and it's wonderful. The main ingredient in the mold control is baking soda, and the spray leaves no trace on the leather. I also used leather therapy conditioner that inhibits mold afterwards.View attachment 5381602
So I decided to do something about Ms. Stinky-pants Day Pack. No,it's not a Berk . This sad bag ...

got wet and stayed wet at some point and reeks of mildew. It has a lot of wear and the piping is worn through. I will let that be. I just want to clean it and get rid of the mildew smell and give it lots of conditioner and go from there.
Thanks for those who responded about how they use vinegar to deal with mold, mildew. Yesterday was a breezy, low humidity day and I thought it would be great to do something, anything. I let it air out the day before. So I turned it inside out and using a toothbrush, worked vinegar into the suede side of the leather inside, twice. Turning it inside out made that much easier. Now the smell of mildew is less, but still there. And it smells like vinegar! No surprise there. Today I will use emu oil, the same way, with a toothbrush. I got this idea from @MrsGAMfrom reading her posts on what she did with her Berks. Will give it sunshine weather permitting and then dunk (probably later in the week or on the weekend).
I will report back!![]()
Ladazuri,I'd like to share my most recent challenges/disappointments and resulting life lessons with you. Perfection is a very high standard to uphold and sometimes downright impossible. It's high time I learned to love character and patina even in light coloured bags.![]()
I have redunked the Duffle Sac 9085 and the Small Shopper 9993 4 times after 3 failed attempts to colour refresh them. Because their colour is a coating rather than a dye, they either have to be painted or embraced as they are. I've come to a place of acceptance and chosen the later.
Here they are with the aqua Lunch Box I've waited a year to restore because of losing the strap. All 3 are wet.

Duffle Sac with one spot on the front (disclosed by the seller) which I'd hoped to mitigate with colour refreshing and will now leave alone.

The bottom is a bit worn/faded, but beautiful nonetheless!

And the Lunch Box whose faded areas I'd planned to colour refresh, will now be treasured as is.

Ladazuri,
They‘re beautiful. I love the pale blue and patina. It’s perfect.
I used to use my fingers. Now that I have to be careful what I put on my skin, I wear a glove and still use my fingers. I feel that if you use a cloth or sponge, you'll lose a lot of it absorbed in the sponge.Another weird question: what do you all use to apply cpr? I have been using damp sponge, but am curious to hear what others use.
I've used BR on newer bags, especially to prevent color transfer.Does anyone apply Renapur/BR to newer bags? I want to protect my 1941 leather, especially as the colour can’t be brought back w/ dunk/conditioning.

Sometimes our rehabs just don’t go as planned unfortunately. It’s nice to know you’re embracing the bags though, they’re still aqua & all lovely styles.
My 4020 rehab revealed a tonne of dark marks & discolouration. Im not sure what I can do to salvage it yet. I have bag ocd & struggle to carry things that have noticeable marks on them. Im sad about it, but I feel a bit better after reading your post. It’s comforting to know we’re not alone in our “disappointments”.![]()

… and that is why! Thank you both.OMG, YES. I’ve mentioned concrobium mold control on this thread in the past. It’s worth the $10 investment & lasts forever. I’ve used it on many non-bag related things too, it’s a wonderful product to have lying around!
