Yes, to both. I used 4 coats/applications of black dye to make sure I had full coverage. Then CPR, then blackrocks. Took a couple days. This little bottle of Kiwi shoe dye has a sponge applicator top. You just squeeze (gently--I made the mistake of too hard) and then rub the sponge on the bag. Avoid bubbles, smooth them out. I was concerned that the dye would come off when I used those products, but, no. It's a good dye.
Thanks for the info I think I’m going to give it a go!

Hi everyone! I washed and conditioned this bag but it didn't come out quite as nicely as I hoped. I think it might need a better leather conditioner (I used chemical guys leather conditioner). What's your go-to product? I see apple and leather cpr mentioned on here a lot. Also, what would you do for scuffs on the corners? TIA!1649709569550984034439888137414.jpg1649709600755875392272520878884.jpg

Thank you! Will give it a try (probably should not have rushed to dunk the bag before sanding!) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Try sanding it. Don't use a dark sandpaper as some of these transfer color. I would use a sanding block.

Thanks @whateve ! I'll try to get my hands on a high number sanding block.

Leather CPR, Blackrock Leather and Rich, and Renapur are the favourite "go to" products. Leather CPR after dunking and Blackrock or Renapur as the final deep conditioners that will do a lot to restore the scuffs. If that isn't sufficient, colour refreshing might be required. Good luck and keep us posted! :flowers:

I agree with the recommendations you got from @LadaZuri . You might need to redunk as conditioners work best on bags that haven't dried out too much. Apple is a maintenance conditioner rather than a rehab one. Good conditioners should help disguise the scuffs.

Hello artisans,
I rehabbed a legacy zip 9966 to use and I love it. Still looking for the perfect 9060 as I need something similar that will carry more. In the meantime I’d like to fix these spots if possible, guessing they are grease spots as they didn’t disappear with routine dunking and cleaning. Are they likely something I’ll have to live with or is there something I can attempt to eliminate them?

Hi all  if I remember right, the manor has cardboard inside the flap so they don't recommend you dunk the manor. I wondered if anyone knew if there was cardboard inside the Plaza at all?

You can dunk the manor. You just have to be careful to make sure it dries in the right shape. I've dunked the plaza with no problem.

I am sorry to say that those spots look like mold. When you dunked did you add a good amount of white vinegar to the water? If you did the mold would be dead. If not, the mold will likely spread. You could either redunk (I put at least 2 cups in a smallish sink when washing my bags) or wipe the entire bag (inside and out) with a sponge soaked in straight vinegar. More opinions are welcome.

Once the mold is dead you may need to dye the bag or add embellishments to cover the permanent spots. :flowers:

I think they could be grease. Some people have been successful in removing grease spots. I think someone bought a product specifically for that. I've tried cornstarch but it didn't work for me.

Two questions for you experienced rehabbers,

1. So I completed my first rehab and then took the purse on a trip to the desert and it got really dusty. Should I use CPR on it again? Or just a damp cloth?

2. While on said trip, I left a couple of bags that have been dunked and conditioned but not blackrocked yet. How long can you wait between CPR and Blackrock?

Thank you!

1. You should dust the purse well. Using CPR without first cleaning off the dust could grind the dust into the leather. It won't hurt to use more CPR if you think it needs it.

2. I don't think there is a time limit. It won't hurt to do it now.
