I'm happy with how this rehab came out. Here are the before pics: https://shopgoodwill.com/item/136092947

Gray/brown, with dark blue ink spots on the front and on the bottom. During the dunk, they spread worse! Now, it's really a beautiful bag, and I'm adding it to my personal collection. I studied up on best leather dye products, and Kiwi brand got great marks. I think it worked great to dye it black, super easy to do.
Wow it looks great! Now I’m thinking about dying my basic bag lol. It’s putty and I’ve dunked it a few times but it still looks dingey to me.

Hi all

Looking for some advice, I bought this Lindsay bag from an online site here in the UK, the seller described the bag as "hardly used very good condition" however upon arrival the bag is in much poorer condition than described with what I consider to be significant damage to the strap. My question is can this be repaired or should I ask for a full refund? The hand tag is also split which they were very careful when they photographed not to show.

The split hangtag is not a big deal, that is a common occurrence with older bags. You just have to glue it back together with fabric glue or leather glue and it will be fine.

If you paid a lot for the bag and the condition is disappointing then you should leave it alone and ask for a full refund and send it back. But if you got it at a good price and you are willing to do some rehabbing then it looks like the bag can be saved. It's up to you but if you decide to keep it then I think that you should at least get a partial refund!

To rehab, just give the bag a bath in blue Dawn dish soap, rinse well in water (you can add a cup of vinegar to prevent molding), stuff it with towels and shape it to dry. After about a day remove the towels and let it continue drying. Use fabric or leather glue to repair the strap. Condition with a good conditioner like Leather CPR, and then apply a finisher like Black Rocks or Renapur. Finally, use a metal polish to clean the hardware but be careful not to stain the leather, clean it off immediately if you get any on the leather. Good luck!

Thank you! I had intended to clean up the bag anyway so not too bothered about that, I was more annoyed at the seller not disclosing the real condition of the bag and wasn't sure how easy the strap would be to repair. I didn't pay a huge amount but will ask the seller for partial refund.

did you apply CPR and/or black rocks over the dye? it looks so shiny and fresh!
Yes, to both. I used 4 coats/applications of black dye to make sure I had full coverage. Then CPR, then blackrocks. Took a couple days. This little bottle of Kiwi shoe dye has a sponge applicator top. You just squeeze (gently--I made the mistake of too hard) and then rub the sponge on the bag. Avoid bubbles, smooth them out. I was concerned that the dye would come off when I used those products, but, no. It's a good dye.

I will be curious to see down the road how the bag accepts conditioner after it gets some wear or for maintenance. I looked up the ingredients and it is acrylic based, which could coat the pores on the surface leather, which typically open up with cleaning, dunkinking and allow conditioner to penetrate. Thanks for sharing.

Notice the hangtag is a lot lighter.
Think its butterscotch.
Omg :panic: it’s like your creamy Courier and my BT Plaza had a baby :faint:

I get you on capturing the color. I find it hard to capture of my toffee Ergo or my saddle(?) Shopping Bag tote in a photo. In my opinion, the color changes with the amount of light, indoors vs. outdoors, ... It's like who is ever actually holding at the time determines what the color is
