I use my fingers too. Unless there’s fabric or suede involved. I have some pointed triangle cosmetic sponges that I use for tiny crevices and got away with using them for areas close to suede. But that tiny strip of vachetta between two pieces of freshly cleaned fabric was a bit daunting for my fingers and spongesI always use my fingers...only use a sponge to wipe off excess
Oh no, that is terrible. Is it because you mixed it with CPR ( I assume)? I used Saphir previously on a dyed bag as a last layer to prevent color rub off (instead of resoline) but did not try using leather CPR after. It is medium brown, but BT does vary quite a bit. I had such a strange experience with this product, sending my pics for insight. Maybe I put too much Saphir into the mix? It just didn’t absorb. The next time I applied CPR, it all rubbed off. I haven’t used it since and at 15USD per bottle, it isn’t cheap.
Haha. I hadn’t noticed the absence of a thank you. No judgement here!Oh no, that is terrible. Is it because you mixed it with CPR ( I assume)? I used Saphir previously on a dyed bag as a last layer to prevent color rub off (instead of resoline) but did not try using leather CPR after.
Forgot my manners: thank you for the answer
Yeh, it is always good to take progress pictures In that case, I think I will try straight out of a bottle and let it sit for a long while before attempting to condition again. Hopefully color settles in by then.Haha. I hadn’t noticed the absence of a thank you. No judgement here!
I have no idea what I did wrong. Others advised a mix of Juvacuir with CPR, similar to an acrylic paint refresh. Perhaps I didn’t massage it in well enough or had too much (or too little) juvacuir or didn’t let it dry long enough (24hrs). Unsure. You can see my ratio tho - glad I took a process pic!
Oh no! I find fountain pen ink to be more stubborn than a pool of ballpoint. The ballpoint dissolves with vinegar in my experience, except for pen marks. They’re stubborn, too.
Yes I should’ve left this spot alone on my Lula. Hopefully I can resist the temptation of a dunk with this duffle. Here’s the Lula spot that bled through. I was filing it and picking at it with tweezers to try and break up the pool and pull it up from the suede. Then I took a qtip with vinegar to it to soften it a bit and within minutes, it had soaked through to the other side. Immediate dunk and flush through the leather from the outside with straight vinegar and a baby medicine syringe. I was exhausted tho and it was midnight. Just didn’t have the energy to go at it properly. But once I let it sit overnight, it wouldn’t budge.Fountain Pen stains are the worst in my experience. I once rehabbed a Becket Zip 9920 and a fountain pen had leaked inside the bag and when I gave it a bath (it really needed a bath!) the ink ran and got worse. I tried lots of things to remove it but without much luck. Luckily both the bag and the ink were blue and it didn't show too badly. On a contrasting color bag I would try to avoid giving it a bath. Good luck!
It may be a match. What I mean is that I used it for a BT spot touch up, several years ago. It was not an entire refresh. Search my posts and you will find where I posted it. However someone here used it more recently for a mahog Winnie and the bottle she had was clearly darker. I wonder if my bottle was mislabeled as from the chart I was expecting something clearly darker to work on a Lightweight line bag in a chocolate brown. You could see from my bottle, it has that copper penny hue.Hello,
I am planning to color refresh BT bag with Saphir Juvacuir and as far as my research showed medium brown is a match to British tan. Is that correct? Unfortunately I have to order online so there is no way of seeing color live. I have a store near by which sells saphir shoe polishes and cream. I wonder if I could match shoe polish color to the bag and order that color Juvacuir.
I believe the green is verdigris from the back of the brass plate that transferred onto the leather.Finishing up the paint splatter bag now and its looking good. Onto this old twin sided girl as this weekend's project. No idea what the green stuff is on one side. Got some grotty turnlocks though! Might soak those for days in vinegar and baking soda.

The spot didn't bleed through badly and it's on the bottom - and it's a gorgeous bag!
Thanks, ladiesThat spot is no biggie. She looks great! Good job!
Great point @whateve ! I will dunk first, then see what remains. If I need to go further with the suede cleaner, I will try it. Thank you so much for all your help!Let us know how you like the suede cleaner. I hated the Kiwi suede cleaner. It made rings. If you are going to dunk, and I don't know why you wouldn't, I don't know that you would need suede cleaner.
Thank you so much @katev ! Yes! I will try dunking first and see if I need to use the suede cleaner.Good point, maybe the she should only try the suede cleaner if nothing else works!
@msplvsmsp just a word of caution, its always wise to test products first in an area that doesn’t show because bags may not always react the way you hope.
