I’ve always used Lincoln e-z suede cleaner and never had any issues. It does foam up a bit and I use a microfiber cloth to wipe away the bubbles. I’ve used it for lined bags or ones that I don’t want to dunk (and shoes!) but it’s never left streaking or rings or any marks that I can tell. Once it’s clean, I always spray protectant on.

Reminds me of my first rehab. No suede cleaner could help that bag :roflmfao:

Yes I should’ve left this spot alone on my Lula. Hopefully I can resist the temptation of a dunk with this duffle. Here’s the Lula spot that bled through. I was filing it and picking at it with tweezers to try and break up the pool and pull it up from the suede. Then I took a qtip with vinegar to it to soften it a bit and within minutes, it had soaked through to the other side. Immediate dunk and flush through the leather from the outside with straight vinegar and a baby medicine syringe. I was exhausted tho and it was midnight. Just didn’t have the energy to go at it properly. But once I let it sit overnight, it wouldn’t budge.
It's beautiful anyway!

I forgot about that! I've used Lincoln several times. It works wonders on the pig suede lining of Gramercy bags. I've never gotten any stains on regular cowhide suede to budge with it.

It may be a match. What I mean is that I used it for a BT spot touch up, several years ago. It was not an entire refresh. Search my posts and you will find where I posted it. However someone here used it more recently for a mahog Winnie and the bottle she had was clearly darker. I wonder if my bottle was mislabeled as from the chart I was expecting something clearly darker to work on a Lightweight line bag in a chocolate brown. You could see from my bottle, it has that copper penny hue.
It was a fortunate turn of events as I had a scraped up BT that needed some help. If I could find Saphir locally I would definitely check it out. And what they would suggest and possibly order the closest shades, let me buy the one that is the best match.

I believe the green is verdigris from the back of the brass plate that transferred onto the leather.
Thank you for your answer. I saw your posts and was confused because others said that medium brown is a match for them too. Lets hope saphir shoe polish is the same color as Juvacuir. Will try to match that and hope for the best

Yes it is rather benign. Makes me feel like I’m cleaning things and the bubbles and cloth can look a bit dirty, but it’s not a complete overhaul type of product

It was so weird. It wasn’t too long ago that it was posted as a match for mahog. And I have seen others post it as a match for BT. At least you are informed! Best of luck!

I don't think they are mold but someone else might have more insight into that?

Since the marks are on the back of the bag they may just be wear from rubbing against clothes. They might disappear with a bath, conditioner, and Blackrocks - I would try that first. If you think that they could be mold you should add vinegar to the bath.
Thank you! I was hoping there was a chance they might disappear. Appreciate your advice. I have ordered Blackrocks.

Hello everyone,

I am considering purchasing a vintage Coach Berkeley drawstring bag in russet, but the one I am looking at looks to have some sort of color transfer. Does this type of color transfer come out with dunking?

If anyone has experience with the Berkeley line, I'd really appreciate your input. Thank you in advance.

Just sharing what worked for me....a nubuck and suede block from Mephisto. I have an older one, not sure if the newer ones work the same.

What protectant do you use?

In process, and I probably bit off more than I can chew. This bag has been so abused and kept in nasty conditions I'm sure. I tried to polish up the little pieces of metal holding the strap they are completely rusted. In these pictures, believe it or not, it already looks better, this is after dunking and 4 treatments of leather cpr. Any advice for how to help the cracking along the sides?

I think this style was prone to cracking due to the stiffer leather and the shape of the bag. I believe someone used heat and CPR to fill in cracks. I don't know if it would work in this case. They look pretty bad. Maybe leather cement.

This is a very difficult rehab. My first rehab was one of these and I totally screwed it up.
