RIP, my hairdryer just stopped working out of nowhere... it's going to be a long drying time. Lol.

Question: my first time using CPR on a damp bag - I wiped excess off with a towel but it has a lot of dust stuck on it now. Do I have to wait until fully dry for that dust to come off? It's getting on my nerves.
I'm assuming lint from the towel got stuck on it. Is that what happened? When it is dry, you can brush it and it should come off.

Question about edge coat on handles... I have a coach bag with edge coating on handles peeling off. Is it necessary to have it fixed?
It doesn't appear to affect the function of the handles but I wonder if the leather will get damage over time?
I personally don't mind it and will continue using the bag.
I am a newbie in handbags.

I don't think it would get more damaged other than more of the edge coating peeling off. I usually trim it so there aren't any jagged edges. You can touch up the unfinished edges with paint. If you use fabric puff paint, it will mimic the look of the edge coating.

She has arrived! Only took a day to get here from Michigan via FedEx. I gave her a bath as soon as she got here, so I’ll post the complete rehab next week (assuming my Saphir Creme Surfine arrives on Monday).

She’s pristine on the inside and on the sides! Everywhere else is pretty rough, though not as bad as I was expecting.
I'd probably try benzoyl peroxide on that ink stain on the bottom. Even if it bleaches it out, I doubt it would look worse than it does now. I wonder how much of the color will come back. It looks a lot lighter in your pictures, more like I remember this color being.

Whoa, I didn't know the back piece popped off on any of them. I'm sure I killed my last hairdryer due to the build up of lint.
When I discovered the lint build up was the problem, I was using a tweezers to get in between the plastic frame and remove it. Then one day I see a tiny arrow on the side. Duh, when I screwed the back piece in that direction, the plastic frame holding the screen came off. Then I rinsed it for 10 seconds under the fawcet, done.
I'm still getting bags that are too much of a challenge. DH keeps telling me "stop buying bags that turn out to be projects!"
Well, the project Rambler made me work and really look at what was in my pile and was a bit of a reality check. So I am happy with my Travel Tote and will post pics on that in the next few days. I still have the Buckle Bag with will need glue on the piping. Then I have a few straight dunks and I still have a few Dooney's from last summer that were like, okay, I'll get these and that'll scratch that itch for a while. Yeah right
I am really thinking about doing a few embroidered flowers on my little distressed putty Shoulder Purse (not the nice one). So I have to that Coach for that. But that will really be on the back burner until I get the others done. I could practice on the little worn Scooter.
I think that is why I sprung for the Littleton. A cute little piece of eye candy to take on the Boardwalk this summer. That needs no serious work  For those two red Shoulder Purses on GW that got away
So I would like a break from the madness . . . we'll see . . .

I can't imagine how frustrating embroidering flowers on leather would be! Kudos to you if you can do it!

thanks so much! that sounds like a better solution! initially I was just going to use a sharpie but I will look into getting some fabric puff paint :P

I was thinking about it! I have some somewhere - I used it on my Parchment Sonoma Sling - but I think it got misplaced when DH needed it for a pimple

The idea that is coming to me is a bit minimalist. So it would be about having a needle sharp enough to pierce the leather. We'll see. I still have a bunch to do before I hatch that. I'll experiment on the Scooter. Well if I could channel the energy from browsing listings . . .
Using the existing holes, I did put in several stiches on the rolled handle of my Travel Tote that had come undone.

I've done minimal sewing repairs using existing holes. It was still hard to do. I don't want to have to do it again.

Nope, just a normal layer like applying moisturiser to my face. I read on here about applying it more liberally and then wiping off the excess. But it's gone a bit stringy and tacky even though I didn't over-apply, at least I think I didn't...:hrmm:

This happens to me a lot. Usually once the bag is more dry than damp, the dust & flyaways start clinging to the bag after I apply & wipe CPR. That’s when I know the bag’s not wet enough to take anymore coats properly & it usually starts feeling tacky. I let it fully dry & the dust/debris wipes right off when I move onto conditioning & buffing.

I think to do it properly you’ll need to buy a leather stitching punch. It’ll probably be too difficult to puncture the leather using a needle alone

I've never seriously attempted sewing or embroidering a leather bag. I have done some minor sewing repairs when necessary but it was hard work!

Some people use painting to disguise flaws by turning bags into artwork. I've never been a fan of using a bag as a canvas but that's probably because most of the examples I've seen didn't look very good - and because I am not an artist.

But years ago a TPFer named @dstalksalot acquired a red Rambler that had been badly pen-marked on the front flap. She decided to paint a floral pattern of her own design on the bag to hide the pen marks. Happily she was very talented and I think that she did a really nice job. See the link below for her description of the process and photos showing the results of her artistry.

Thanks! Which conditioner do you use when it's dry? I found the same as you, I didn't like applying CPR on a dry bag.

I'm struggling with this post-dunk distressed NYC Dinky. I should have applied a stronger conditioner than CPR. It's presently mostly rehydrated except for a big patch on the front, about an inch or so in diameter, that just refuses to become rehydrated. I would redunk and redo the process but I'd be wasting all the CPR I used so far, which is in very finite supply! I've thickly applied the Chambers leather balsam, blow-dried it, massaged it in and buffed off the excess. I think I'll see how that goes and if the bag won't turn around, I'll have to redunk.
