I posted a small, vintage, light blue Emily (or Emmie?) bag in the Authentication thread, see below. It was made in the US in 1997. It is incorrectly listed on ShopGoodwill as 9013 but the correct number is 9018. I asked for additional pictures of the creed and turnlock reverse and they sent them to me so I have posted them at the link below. They are asking $45 BIN plus shipping so it's not cheap. The bag is in very rough shape but I think that the blue color is uncommon.

ETA: Here is the same bag listed on ebay for $300. In the photo where the flap is open you can see that this one has had some fading of the color on the front: https://www.ebay.com/itm/284231730581?hash=item422d880595:g:tJsAAOSwDbJgW-Q0

I bought the one on Goodwill:happydance:I've been looking for a vintage pastel bag under $100 to use during summer. Michigan isn't too far from me, so it should be getting here this week! Of course, the Saphir product I ordered to help recolor the edges and bottom isn't supposed to arrive until next week, but I can give it a bath while I wait for it:lol:

Here's a periwinkle Abbie with no bids and a low-ish starting price ending soon for anyone wanting a summer pastel! Haven't authenticated it. Was going to get it for myself but it'd be about £75 or so overall for me. Plus I'm on a ban.

@MrsGAM I am so glad that you got it! Please share the rehab with us!

On the subject of vintage blue bags with color fading, I once bought a small blue bag at a garage sale for only $2.50. It looked gray and dirty but I could see under the flap that it was originally a blue color.

I kept calling it periwinkle but @Hyacinth corrected me and told me that it was a genuine Saphire Casey 9923 from around 1993.

When I finished the rehab the color was much improved but there is still some uneveness and fading, expecially on the front flap; see the links below for before and after pics. @MrsGAM, let me know how that Saphir product works on the periwinkle Emmie? I still have this Casey so maybe I should try to recolor it!

And wow, those were the days! I called Coach Customer Service for a hangtag replacement and they sent the actual correct saphire hangtag for this bag at no charge - I was very grateful but I didn't realize back then just how lucky I was!

Gorgeous!!! Amazing colour - great work on it - and the Casey is such a lovely and understated looking bag.

ETA: crazy to think about how your Casey was nine years old when you got it and it's now officially vintage.

Oh, that’s a similar color to my Winnie, maybe just a little brighter blue. I used a mix of Marine Saphir Creme Surfine, Blue Angelus leather paint, and CPR to recolor the faded parts. Took 3-4 applications over a couple days. I also used straight orange Creme Surfine once to recolor my orange Abbie and Marine Creme Surfine on the flap of my navy Crescent; you just have to leave it on for over 24 hours before you buff, or you’ll take all of it off! I think I ended up leaving my Abbie alone for a week before buffing and I never had any color come off. BTW, Saphir Creme Surfine is what I’m waiting for to use on the Emmie:biggrin:
Edited to add a pic of my Abbie! First pic is before, second is after a bath and conditioning, and third is after Creme Surfine.

That's true of a lot of my bags; if you wait long enough they become vintage!

Hi! I just bought my very first vintage coach bag (authenticated by BeenBurned) to clean up. Because I like to make things difficult for myself, it's red (for for $12, I figured what the hell).

I've started reading through the whole thread, and I remember seeing something about red bags, but for the life of me, I can't find it. I want to verify I remember correctly: don't dunk because there might be color loss, but to use cleaner wipes instead? I can't remember the suggested brand of wipes, though. Is that right?

I've dunked 2 red bags so far. One was an NYC and one was from 2002. The newer bag had been painted so I was far from gentle with it. More than one very long soak in very hot water. Both survived like champs with no colour loss. In fact, after conditioning, the colour was much more vibrant than before the bath.
