Is this leather CPR? Would I need more products than this one to both cleanse and condition? I can buy it on ebay for 48 usd. If it really is the best and I only need this one product for both cleansing and conditioning, then I will buy it.
Maybe check CPR website to see if it is cheaper. Or get the 32 oz refill jug on eBay instead if it is better value. https://cprcleaningproducts.com/

I bought the 18 oz bottle on ebay, it was the same price as their own site, but I paid customfees in advance. They didn’t have that option on the refill unfortunately. But now I will get it by the end of march and can’t wait to try it.
How would you pratically do? How to clean, and how to condition?

Tried edge burnishing on Coach handle before, but was using wrong burnish agent and didn’t work(gum or bee wax works great on veg tanned leather, not chrome tanned). This time I used Tokonole, really like how the handle turned out. For comparison, first 2 photos from side without burnishing, 3&4 photos edge burnished.

Is that essentially applying clear edge coat? It looks very good.

After a week of rehabbing my Pony I can officially say she’s finished! It took me days of cleaning the verdigris off before I even could dunk it, and god was that dreadful. I had to scrape it off but also make sure I didn’t smear it across the leather. View attachment 5012862View attachment 5012865
Before: The bag itself was in good condition, just dry and flat. The straps were stained with verdigris, which I asked about here. View attachment 5012870View attachment 5012873
And after! I conditioned it with CPR twice before dunking and it drank it up. I scrubbed the straps with a toothbrush dipped in vinegar before and after dunking, and it completely took the stains away. It got stiff after but I conditioned again twice because apparently it couldn’t get enough and it got back to soft and pliable. View attachment 5012886
and then something I found interesting, instead of saying “BALL CHAIN” like my other stamped chains, it’s stamped bead.

After this, I almost feel like I’ve completed my collection, which we know is never true (lol).
I would guess they were sourced from different companies. Maybe one is trademarked. Neat little details. Some of the bags fro the late 70s and early 80s have zippers from different companies.

Yes, is this like a smoothing treatment? I would like to clean up the edges on some of my favorite bags that have a little more wear.

Just use make sponges in a circular motion and then just wipe off with another clean sponge..you want to remove the previous applications first. Then when you are happy put a small amount onto another clean sponge and then work it into the leather not wiping off. Let the conditioner sink in to the leather. If you see any excess just wipe it off. Let the bag rest for a while until it appears as if the leather has absorb the conditioner. Then give the bag a holiday, let it rest.

Everyone do it a little different. Some apply it with finger tip, let it to absorb for 24 hrs, then buff with soft horse hair brush, some like what Narnanz do, I use the corner tip of a micro fibre cloth, apply in circular motion and buff the same time , till it absorbed. Since it cost you quite a bit for a bottle, I would apply with finger tip, less waste this way.

Not clear coat, just a method to compress and dense leather fibre, so they will have a smooth surface, and looks more finished.
Apply a thin coat of Tokonole on the edge, then use wood slicker lightly rub the edge back and forth, slow at first, till the fibre start to lay down, then you can increase the speed of movement. Do not put too much pressure, otherwise may misshapen the edge. It is the heat of friction together with Tokonole to achieve the burnished effect. Lots of vedios on YouTube.
ETA: only use ToKonole, you may see other material used on YouTube vedios, but those only work on veg tanned leather. My court bag looks really polished with it’s burnished handle. I don’t even recognize her myself compare with the before photo. It was a bad buy from Etsy that I tried to return but unsuccessful. She came to me painted with lots colour loss in the pipping. I stripped the paint, dyed it with Navy pro dye.

I use my fingers when I doing a Coach but find that with the Bal and its interesting crinkled leather that the sponges worked well.

But we do all have different techniques...I always find it interesting when I see someone doing it a slightly different way and I do try it out.

Forgot it is Bal, I can imagine apply with finger tips will leave excess CPR inside the crinkle.

Amazing transformation! You gave that bag a second change at life lol! Why was the return unsuccessful? Is Etsy’s return policy different?
