Do you mean Obenauf's Leather Oil? (Since Obenauf has several different products). Their leather oil I have used only on black or dark brown bags, as it definitely darkens the leather. Regarding Blackrocks, I always try to use it very sparingly - the stickiness can come from applying a little too much.
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I was wondering about the leather oil. The leather darkening is exactly what I was wondering about so I appreciate you letting me know about that. I'll definitely use less of the Blackrocks in the future. Thank you!

Hi
I was referred to this thread from the Balenciaga care thread.
I bought a new-to-me black Bal Velo a few weeks ago and have tried to moisturize the leather with 3 different treatment since to make the leather softer.
Now it is a bit sticky.
Would it be crazy to wash it in the machine on 20 or 30 de

After a week of rehabbing my Pony I can officially say she’s finished! It took me days of cleaning the verdigris off before I even could dunk it, and god was that dreadful. I had to scrape it off but also make sure I didn’t smear it across the leather. 7BB66F05-3721-4B52-809D-C23BC8661A1F.jpegEBCE1BFF-8DD8-4D1C-909C-C587C0BC154B.jpeg
Before: The bag itself was in good condition, just dry and flat. The straps were stained with verdigris, which I asked about here. 279F5B82-CD41-42D8-B4FF-D323DAFD952D.jpeg47F8FC5C-7547-41B9-9177-E3336BE2AEE6.jpeg
And after! I conditioned it with CPR twice before dunking and it drank it up. I scrubbed the straps with a toothbrush dipped in vinegar before and after dunking, and it completely took the stains away. It got stiff after but I conditioned again twice because apparently it couldn’t get enough and it got back to soft and pliable. 4D83205A-8277-4E75-833B-0642525A9564.jpeg
and then something I found interesting, instead of saying “BALL CHAIN” like my other stamped chains, it’s stamped bead.

After this, I almost feel like I’ve completed my collection, which we know is never true (lol).

First I tried Silver cleanser which cleansed it, but made it a little dry. Then Collonil Diamond which gave it a white-ish sheen. So I used a small amount of almond oil, which I have used with good results on other bags. And lastly I tried a newer product from Collonil. An organic (I think) product with olive oil.

I think its too much oil based products. I have to admit we are very CPR biased here , but I put Renapur on my 2006 Balenciaga Emerald chevre city and regretted it. It made it feel very tacky even after a few weeks of letting it settle so I used my trusty Leather CPR cleaner/conditioner and gave the leather another clean and then condition with it and it feels much better. If you cant get CPR try and find another creamy leather cleaner which does not have oil or silicone as part of its base and give the bag a gentle clean. I put a lot of cpr on a clean makeup sponge and used circular motions into the leather and used another clean makeup sponge to wipe the excess off.
Try that out but make sure you leave the leather to settle before you try anything else. Sometimes you can over condition leathers.
Ive found CPR is great to soften Bal leathers as I have found with the three bals I have.

Other opinions welcome as Im just going off what I experienced with my Emerald city.

I requested 3 years ago and still waiting for hangtags!
Damn girl!! With me they have the pandemic excuse but for you?!?! Im only missing a hangtag for 1 bag that’s on its way to me right now & I doubt Ill find a matching one as it’s very likely RUST!!! (Or just extremely patina’d british tan with my luck lmao!)

eta: even if my hangtags never come, I don’t really mind. The new metal ones don’t really match vintage coach bags well. I love the look of the vintage metal ones, not these new, super smooth ones lol

i would say 2-3 years since my request and still nothing. I contacted them and was told the tag was backordered, but others her

Wow, why did they even bother taking new orders if they weren’t gonna fulfill the backlog of orders they already had? Lol. I ended up ordering a vintage metal tag off Ebay yesterday after posting here. Better than waiting 3+ years lmao

Thank you so much for you thorough answer. I think the products are to heavy on oil as well. I am not able to but Leather CPR in Denmark. Would this work as a cleanser? https://www.collonil.com/en/products/cleaning/shampoo-direct

Is this leather CPR? Would I need more products than this one to both cleanse and condition? I can buy it on ebay for 48 usd. If it really is the best and I only need this one product for both cleansing and conditioning, then I will buy it.

this is both a cleaner and a conditioner...we here love this product and if you can get it then do...it can be used for other bags as well. Just dont use too much on Dooney and bourkes old bags.
