Hello!
Any idea if a dunk and condition would get rid of these black spots on this bag? My guess it's mold?

That does look like mold. This is what happened when I dunked my moldy Ranch bag. I didn't notice these spots before I dunked. If anything, apply a lot of vinegar to the bag to kill the mold (if that's what it is) before you dunk it. I'm not sure if I could have done anything differently to save my Ranch bag but it definitely looked a lot better before the dunk than after.

Was this just after a dunk or was this also after conditioning?

I just finished a fun and easy rehab! Many of you already know that one of my favorite reasons for rehabbing bags is that sometimes I have the opportunity to indulge myself with fun, frivolous, and impractical bags that I probably wouldn't buy retail because there won't be many opportunities to use them - and that's what this rehab is all about!

For only $30 I bought the Audrey Cinched Tote Sun Motif 19977 that was released in 2012 for $358. The bag was very dirty and had some nasty stains inside and out and the grip portion of the gold metallic handles were a bit worn, but the bag was intact and it still had both of the original hangtags.

See below for the before and after pictures. It was very grubby, especially the bottom, corners, handles, the lining, and in all the "high-touch" areas. I gave it a sink bath with Dawn and I scrubbed it very thoroughly and was happy that the stains came out easily. There are some stray ink marks inside the inner zip pocket that I was only able to lighten but not eliminate.

I stuffed the bag and let it dry and then treated the leather surfaces with Leather CPR. I used gold metallic paint to touch up the handle grips and I polished the gold hardware. I decided that this bag didn't already have enough bling so I decorated it with my Shells fob; that's all there was to it and now she's just in time for Summer!

Here are the Before and After pictures, I plan to spray the bag with Apple Garde to help keep her clean; what a fun and beautiful tote!

I went out to lunch today for the first time in a long time and I decided to celebrate the occasion by carrying a fun, summery bag. I selected my rehabbed $30 Audrey Cinched Sun Motif Tote 19577 (decorated with the Shells fob 92910) and they were the perfect accessories on a lovely summer day!

I posted my BT City bag with similar spots a while back.

I tried everything mentioned here, plus some of my own ideas, and they are still there! This past weekend, I dunked one last time, tried the vinegar again, scrubbed with Dawn and put the bag out in the scalding hot S. Mississippi sun for hours. No fading, nothing. Several coats of CPR (tried different ways each time - while very wet, when almost dry, etc.) and no change! I'm done. Either I live with the spots or pass the bag along! If you find something that works, let us know.

Another addition to my tan collection. Wish it still had a hang tag.
I dunked in Dawn and vinegar then rinsed. Applied three coats of leather CPR mixed with just a little tinted leather cream while it was still damp. This is the completely dried bag.

You could always borrow a BT hangtag from another bag, Lord knows I have enough BT (and sometimes in a pinch, Putty will pass) bags to share hangtags. You could also expertiment with other colors you have. House gave me the idea to coordinate a different color strap with a vintage bag and I thought, why not with hand tags? I have a BT Bancroft that I got a red and navy hang tags personalized at the Coach store to accessorize with. A burgundy hangtag would look nice with BT too. And it probably would not be too hard to find the right vintage BT hangtag used online if you really desired one in the style that came with the bag.

Rust Saddle Bag update: the flap is almost dry, with 2 generous apps of CPR, things are go amazingly. Sorry for the mess, taking a quick break from work to take advantage of lots of natural light, helped out by a table lamp. This is actually a decent photo of its true color. I have it hanging by the buckles. We are having a low humidity day, about 35% so I tuned off the air and opened the windows.
Somebody pinch me, this is my HG!
Last night and tonight it got more CPR. I will probably give the strap one more app of CPR tomorrow (it has had 5 already, it was really worn). I'll probably spend time buffing with a brush tomorrow and then it will get a coat of Renapur. Two faint pen marks have come out with conditioning, but given how much color has been revived, I am fine. A couple of the large droplet spots on the back appear to have been removed, as did most of what I thought might have been gum (or other candy?) on the inside pocket. The baby cartouche is intact! I'm thrilled. If I could only find a matching hangtag . . .

I have 6 British tan bags and I think only two have hangtags. A while back I bought a Lot of Coach hang tags. Most of them were black and maybe one dark brown but no British tan. Just my luck lol.
