I was thinking of making it black again. It’s currently a muddy color of not black but not dark brown. The front flap is the worst, but I would probably do the whole bag, just skipping over the UA stamp to protect it. Not sure I want to put money into the bag or that I have the patience to use the Saphir. Seeking opinions on what to do and how to do it
I follow. I thought that what you intended, just wanted to be sure. The trick with Saphir Juvacuir, it is intended to touch up an original color. I used it over all on a black bag and it was great, but I don't know how well it will cover the brown. You may end up with light and dark shades of black.
Your bag kinda reminds me of my distressed mocha Open Marketing Tote. Mocha distresses in multiple dark brown to almost black shades.

The pictures you showed doesn't show bad edgewear. Conditioner may be all you need. A little acrylic mixed with conditioner can be used if you discover you need more than conditioner.

That was when the bag just got out of the dunk so it wasn’t too noticeable, the more it dries, the whiter the edges get. I can probably use resolene on the edges like I did my CC rehab but its very thin so it may not work well. Ill try your method with the conditioner and see how it goes. I just did the acetone and it didn’t even budge the polish LOL. I have paint remover but I feel like the more I mess with it, the worse it will look so Im just gonna hold off. Ill see if I can “soften” it off when the bag gets conditioned :)

Any ideas for my green Scout bag? I want the whole bag back to the under flap color/condition. I have washed it and applied Leather milk. I have Chamberlains shoe cream ordered to touch up the piping if needed. Have never used Leather CPR, Blackrocks or Chamberlains Healing Balm before. Any ideas for what would work beat on the entire bag? Thanks!

She’s finished! Hard to get a pic of her glorious greeness

Sometimes I look at it and think it’s ok, no one will notice it’s mottled. other times I think it could be better. It was originally tabac, so all the stitching is a medium brown too.

So I dunked my companion bag today (9300) and to say Im upset is an understatement. After pulling it out of the dunk, I noticed the edges were peeling off. I looked closer and a previous owner (won’t accuse the seller as she could have purchased the bag from a thrift store and not known) had painted the edges with a black rubbery material similar to resolene but not the right texture. Also the dunk uncovered a nail polish stain on the front.
Would you guys peel the rubbery stuff off and try to condition the edges and try to fix the nail polish stain or should I open a return case? I paid $116 with duties and shipping thinking I was getting a made in nyc bag with no fading on the corners. Now, under the rubbery coating, I can see there is fading and the stain so I feel like its not worth what I paid. Not really sure what to do...

I paid with paypal and it was through Ebay. I messaged the seller to see what she has to say about it, but yea, I have a feeling the return is gonna be a hassle. I don’t think Ebay will care that I dunked the bag or not because these are big flaws not disclosed. Im pretty sure I won’t get my duties and shipping back since I used the global shipping program which means even if the seller accepted the return, its only gonna be a partial refund :( I attached a picture of one of the edges, the others are wet so I can’t tell yet if they will come out faded or not:

Ebay does care that you dunked the bag. You've altered it, it can no longer be returned.
Sorry you got a lemon. About 2 months ago, a TPF member bought a bag with PayPal through eBay, during the dunk discovered the front was painted to hide a dark stain, she contacted the seller, tried with eBay and PayPal, because she altered the bag thus no longer returnbal. She was pretty upset for days... The best situation is seller issue you a partial refund on her own. Otherwise you will need to make lemonade out of lemon. still 110 CAD is not bad for a NYC bag that require some work. I am in Canada too and had way worse transactions than yours, one bag I spent over 120 end up donated to value village. Unfortunately once I dunked it then any surprise I found was my problem to deal with.
We do get good deals at times too, I guess things even out that way.

Sorry you ended up spending all that money for a dud :( Im pretty bummed that this bag turned out to be so problematic but Im trying to look on the brightside that if I can re dunk and get rid of the sticky-ness and condition the edges and darken them again, then the nail polish on the front won’t be so bad if it doesn’t come out and I can use it as my “beater” bag (everyday bag that takes a lot of wear and tear). I do love the style a lot so Im not giving up on it yet :) I honestly don’t wanna ask the seller for a partial refund because I believe she didn’t know the edges were altered based on her response. I sell a little on the side so Im always trying to be a hassle free buyer as well- Ive accepted the bag is now mine regardless of if I can fix it or not haha

If the bag is black, you could paint over the nail polish if it isn’t too big of a spot.

I was thinking maybe you can tape off the good leather, then try to remove the nail polish with acetone from hardware store, it is stronger than nail polish remover, then dunk the bag immediately to get rid of acetone. IMO even lightened color is better than red nail polish on black bag, you can always touch up the color with black acrylic paint & leather cpr mixture. I never try it myself so don't really know if it is safe to do so.

Sad Plaza is still a thing and tugging at my vintage loving heartstrings. It must be the glow of carrying my Letter Brief :heart::heart: for the first time today!!!

I still have it on my watch list! They actually raised the price after it didn't sell the first time.

She looks great! Did you use a finisher, like Blackrocks or Renapu?

The acetone didn’t work on the nail polish, I tried it last night. I think its because the nail polish stain is probably very old. Im gonna try to “scrape” it off after conditioning. If that doesn’t work, Im gonna try to paint over it- hopefully that works :)
