That's a beautiful blue! Mine is dark blue too.

How do you like the city? I've still never gotten one.
Still waiting for it to be sent. The consignment style site I got it from sends the seller a courier bag to send it in...so the seller has to wait for the to be sent to her. Will get it next week.
I like bigger bags anyways.

A question to all you leather cpr users:

I ordered some via prime for my probematic companion bag. It comes tomorrow which is when I plan to do my second dunk.

So my question is, should I still add vinegar to the dunk to get rid of the horrible fish smell or does leather cpr help dissipate bag odours as well?

thank you to anyone who replies in advance

eta: the smell is only on the outside of the bag. Im assuming a previous owner did some fishy cooking and the bag was nearby enough to soak up the odour

I don't think cpr helps with odors.

Hello fellow rehabbers,
Below is my most recent rehab. I gave this Murphy the usual dunk and wash but a few stains in the front remain. They are not ink stains. They appear to be oil stains. I washed them gently with blue Dawn and warm water but the stains didn't come out.

Any suggestions on how to eliminate the stains or, at least, greatly minimize them? Thanks!

I was thinking of making it black again. It’s currently a muddy color of not black but not dark brown. The front flap is the worst, but I would probably do the whole bag, just skipping over the UA stamp to protect it. Not sure I want to put money into the bag or that I have the patience to use the Saphir. Seeking opinions on what to do and how to do it
I love the way it looks as is! It's gorgeous!

It looks great!

It is very hard to remove grease stains from tan bags. You could try spot-treating the stains with laundry detergent and then tying it up in a pillow case and running it through the washer to see if that helps.

And/or if you finish the bag with Black Rocks Leather n Rich it will darken the color slightly and may make the stains less noticeable. Good luck!

You could try gently blotting and rubbing the spots with vinegar and washing it again. Sometimes that works for me, others not

Nice find! I've rehabbed 3 or 4 vintage coach briefcases, none as old as your Dad's, but they all came out pretty well.

Considering the condition that it's in, I'd give it a bath and a scrubbing, stuff it and shape it, condition it and finish with Black Rocks, and then polish the hardware.

As an example, below are before and after pics of a black Lexington Briefcase that I rehabbed. It's from the 1990's so not as old as your bag but it was in pretty bad shape and it was improved by rehabbing IMO. Good luck!

Looks wonderful! I just finished a briefcase for my hubby. Bought online for $37. The handle was ripped around the edges so I purchased a vintage replacement from vintagecoach4less on Mercari for $11 and replaced it. This is the first rehab that I actually removed all the hardware and polished The brass before dunking and washing. I only needed to use a very small amount of Cadillac shoe cream on 2 small spots on the bottom corners. Amazing how these bags can come back to life!

My current rehab in progress is the “burgundy” NYC convertible clutch and I am having a weird problem. It arrived very soft and odorless. I almost didn’t dunk, but it had the usual corner scuffs so I decided to wash it. The water took on a weird cloudiness I have never seen before. The bag has become very stiff (yes I got all the soap out) and has a strange smell. The smell appeared in the water and reminded me of my old pediatric dentist office from the 80s. It stuck around after the bag began drying. I would think it might be mold, but there were no spots and, as I said before, no odor at all until it got wet. Did I activate mold with the dunk?

I also really am unhappy with the color. The seller pics made it look a nice wine red and though it turns my hands reddish during CPR, it just looks brown. I wanted burgundy not brown. Is it possible something was put in it to enhance the color and it washed off and made the water cloudy while triggering the smell?

Oh wow - that looks incredible!

I have another rookie question if you don't mind. I purchased some leather therapy and was probably a little heavy handed when using it on a BT bag. It seemed to really darken and enhance the scratches - they looked like pen parks after to give you an idea of the effect. I let it dry for 24 hours and no difference. I dunked it and will try to condition again when its almost dry but I'm reluctant to use the Leather Therapy. Also, I thought it was hard to know how much I was applying when using a damp sponge. Anyone have any tips? I'm considering switching to leather CPR - do you apply with a rag instead of a sponge? And can you use it liberally? Thanks for the tips!
