Are you lovely rehabbers who are receiveing new-to-you bags these past few weeks letting them sit for a few days before you start on them, especially if they came to you from high coronavirus case states like NY or the surrounding area?
The bag I received yesterday took three days to get here. I took it out of the box and got rid of the box and then I wiped the bag down gently with a wipe and put it aside. Then I scrubbed my hands. I'm going to bathe the bag today because I'm not taking any chances.

Is there a full guide to rehabbing somewhere that walks a person through the steps that I could share with a friend? She just bought her first vintage Coach and I am trying to get her hooked

There is no one-size-fits-all guide, so it helps to know what kind of bag she's got (Madison Gracie? Court Bag or Willis? Soho Waverly? Sheridan, Sonoma? rare Bonnie Cashin for Coach collector's item?).

With that in mind, here are some links to basic, general rehab procedures shared by participants on this thread:

And of course, pictures and specific questions about a project are welcome here any time!

Have any of you that have dunked a metal tag pre creed bag had some of the black (enamel?) come off during the bath? I was very careful, didn't leave it in very long, but as I was drying her off the black came off of the h in Coach. The rest seems fine but I freaked of course.
Yes I have, but all the enamel came off on mine. Also the leather cracked on the piping, never dunking anything older than an nyc again.

I didn't know that! Can you still tell that it says Coach? I can't remember if I've dunked one. On one of my pre-creed bags, the piping isn't leather, it's plastic.

Wow! There were no problems with the metal tag or the edging or straps after dunking my one-and-only pre-creed Gracie bag - I am glad that I got lucky!

You could, all the black just came off.

Wow! Yes you can still read it. It's just not black where the H is anymore.

Yes now that I'm looking at yours, I think even more black came off than I realized. I'll take a picture tomorrow. But so far the leather looks good and she already looks better than before the bath.

Thank you! She has a cute little black day pack that I think is going to rehab beautifully. We might have another member soon ;)
