the white spots might be spue. I had a beautiful black florentine Dooney that sat waiting in its bag to be carried, took it out months later and it had white stuff all over it. Did some research and if leather isn’t tanned properly the fat from the skin can leak out. The bag was ok while I used it, but I don’t know how long it will stay that way (I rehomed it with a warning).
Yuck!

New project! I purchased this green Whitney for something to do; I wasn't sure how much she'd improve but I'm not feeling picky right now:P I'm actually really happy so far.

First pic is bag still damp, second progress pic is today, fairly dry, after 3 rounds of CPR. Strap will need some major work that I'll probably be asking you all for help with later!
Anyone know what color this would be? I thought olive when I bought it but it's too deep and bright for that.

Hello Aerinha! how did you get rid of the white spots? TIA!!

Are you lovely rehabbers who are receiveing new-to-you bags these past few weeks letting them sit for a few days before you start on them, especially if they came to you from high coronavirus case states like NY or the surrounding area?

I actually thought about this today, as I have bags coming in from Japan by way of NY and from California, I am technically washing them and my hands and letting the boxes sit.

I have one coming from the Flint, MI area. It is going to take a few days to get here, so if the bag was contaminated, at that point it should be okay. Mail in of itself is dirty, so I typically wash my hands after opening boxes and such anyways. (I'm a major hand washer from way before this pandemic, so this is nothing new to me)

I've read that because of the differences in temperature packages experience they are in general pretty safe. But, I have taken to spraying mine with alcohol while they are on the porch, then opening and placing the purse either direction in the sink with soap, or in a quarantine area. Wrapping goes straight to dumpster outside. Just in case.

Received my red pocket purse with missing hang tag. She’s was in pretty decent condition, but had a stain on the back, a bit misshapen, and some pen marks. She went straight to the sink for a good wash. Today she’s still drying. Just wanted to show the progress.

I couldn’t get the stain out completely in the back, but the ink stain is slightly lighter. Ignore the strap, I was just trying it on and took it right back off. The strap is slightly longer than my other pocket purses. It was unusual, but hits very nicely right at my hip. I’m just looking for a matching hang tag. I could use the one from my Willis, but the red is slightly deeper and I really don’t like removing things, so I’ll probably just have to find one.
I got a green pocket purse, too. Excellent condition. Wiped it down with a vinegar solution, she’s now in isolation, and will be ready to go soon. I’ll post side by sides when the red is dried and conditioned.

I’ve been leaving them in the box for a day (I think in perfect conditions, the virus is said to stay on cardboard up to 24 hours. Not sure if there’s been updated studies since then). Then I take it out with gloves and wash it right then and there.

I received two packages (one Cali, one Pennsylvania) and both were wrapped two other times in the boxes. I opened the boxes outside near my garbage cans with gloves on, removed one outer wrapping and set the packages on my porch table. I disposed of the boxes immediately. I brought my vinegar solution out and cleaned one and then stored her in my garage. The other went straight to the sink for a wash. Wiped my door handles and washed the scissors and I’m done.

I bought Lexol once, it had a very strong chemical smell and irritated my skin, so I returned it. Some other members really like it. I think at least the consistency of this product is not good. Chamberlain leather milk leave white residue on my dark colored bags too, sometimes the white chalky thing didn't show up untill a month later, and was very hard to get rid off. Have you considered Saphir product? It is made in France so maybe easier to get in Europe?
Thanks for the suggestion, I had not considered it - I thought Saphir only made color products. Have you used it after dunking?

So speaking of chalky residue. My sling bag was in great condition when she arrived awhile back, I really didn't feel like dunking such a big bag, so I just conditioned it with a couple coats of leather cpr dry. Well it turned pretty yucky and had this white film in spots. Today I finally dunked her so well see how this turn out, cuz purple can be touchy.

Also, how do you like my creepy rehab basement setup, right in front of my husband's computer server. Lol.
Haha, nice! I currently use the portion of the living room table that is not part of my boyfriend's quarantine WFH setup. His colleagues have probably seen my rehab supplies at the edge of their screens during video calls.
On a different note, sucks about the potential CPR residue. Has this ever happened post-dunk?
