I've been trying to search, but I haven't had much luck so please excuse me if this has been answered before, but what are your recommendations for cleaning mostly fabric items? I found this wristlet at value world to give cleaning it a try. Right now it's very dingy but otherwise not bad!

The fabric is very slick feeling, if that helps any, though I don't know the actual material. It reminds me a little of satin.

I don’t know if this will really help anyone because it’s so hard to take accurate photos with my phone but here is my beat up black saddlery I tried to save.

Before:

After a dunk, reshape, and 15 coats of CPR:

After one coat of Blackrocks:

After Blackrocks faded away (mainly the top scratches showed through again and there’s one large across that also became more noticeable):

After one coat of Renapur:

I agree with what people here have said. Renapur is not sticky and smells way better and it also dries faster (because I often apply too much Blackrocks it takes a few days for it to become not sticky again), but the results are very similar to me.

Also if anyone has remedies for a wrinkly tab closure, I’m all ears!

It is SO MUCH improved from the before photo, it looks like it could be a different bag. Were you happy with this result? It almost seems like by the way you worded it, you wanted to indicate that you tried but may not have been successful, however I think it turned out beautiful. And I know my black Station has only given me moderate happiness after two dunks and many many coats of conditioner. Side note, I have a wrinkled tab on said Station that I got to lay flat after stacking heavy books on it while it dried. It did dry straight but I could not get the wrinkles out, so I am also super interested in remedies for wrinkles.

Thanks! I actually have another saddlery bag that’s in much better condition. I mainly got this one out of curiosity and as a “can this be saved?” experiment because I wanted to try things out myself (I guess this is how you get addicted to rehabbing bags haha), plus it was on the cheaper side for a saddlery. As I was working on it I kept thinking I made a mistake and wasted my money but I was really quite surprised at how so many of the scratches disappeared during the cpr process. I guess it bothers me that I need to keep applying something on it to keep the heavier scratches hidden whereas other bags in better condition I can let go for longer. The wrinkled tab also bugs me too but I don’t think there is anything I can do about it (I did the same as you with the heavy books on top so the curl did go away but not the wrinkles). The strap is also in terrible condition but I haven’t bothered to do anything to it but condition it.

I feel the exact same way about re-applying conditioner. I don't have the time to devote to that although I am keeping my collection very small, 20 bags max probably and I think I am at 12 right now, so I am amazed at how some posters here can keep a large collection in tip top shape but if they can, that's great! Maybe one day when I am retired! So do you think you will be a Renapur convert 100%?

I’m not sure! I want to see how long it takes to fade away though from the sound of it, it seems the same as Blackrocks (about a month)? If it lasts longer I will probably be a Renapur convert  For now I’ll probably use either depending on my mood. Haha

Some wrinkles are just characteristic of the full-grain leather and won't press out.

So glad to see this. Was just about to ask if others had a problem with scratches after rehabbing. Was starting to think I hadn't conditioned enough and it was still too dry. It could also be the colour (mahogany) and the fact that it has a flap that has to be handled more that makes it more prone to scratching than my red legacy zip.

I have rehabbed several Coach products that are made of (or lined with) the 65th Anniversary Legacy Striped sateen fabric, like your wristlet. They look delicate but they are tough! They hold up very well and rehab nicely.

You could put that wristlet in a lingerie bag (or tie it up in a pillowcase) and cycle it through the washer with Woolite. But if you prefer you can handwash it in the sink with Dawn and scrub it with a soft brush, like a nail brush.

Arrange it nicely on a towel to dry so that it doesn't get wrinkled and apply some leather conditioner to the leather parts. When I am done I always spray cloth bags with a fabric protector to help keep them clean, I use Apple Rain Garde.

See links below for before and after pics and info for one of my toughest Legacy Stripe rehabs, the large Katy Travel Tote from 2006, it was in bad shaped and needed a lot of work but it came out well. Your wristlet looks to be in good condition, mostly dirty, so it should clean up nicely. You could use acrylic paint to restore the gold finish on the leather if you wish.

Is your wristlet missing the Coach hangtag? You can call Coach Customer Service and ask them to send a gold metal hangtag as a free replacement.

It's my namesake bag so I had to try and save it! You can see a picture of a Legacy Stripe Wristlet here, this one cost $58 in 2006:

Thank you so much for the in depth response! I'm looking forward to trying to clean this wristlet up. The inner lining is also quite dirty (and stained), so I'll see how far I can get with soap.

And I'll ask about that gold hangtag!

Hello Ladies,
Any thoughts on rehabbing this vintage swing double kiss lock bag? It has some issues:
1. straps were cut and tied into knots. I was thinking I should replace them with chain straps. Other thoughts about piecing them together?
2. there is some discoloration along near the main opening. there is also a stain on one of the sides.
3. an area of the frame is discolored (brass has come off).
4. should/can I dunk this bag? or just clean it with lexol or something not requiring a lot of water
5. Color - I was told by the owner it was ivory but now looking at it it looks almost like vachetta leather. Did these bags come in Vachetta leather? it has the metal tag is it ok to dunk and maybe get that stain out?

I don't think they came in vachetta. I would probably dunk but it is a huge risk. Changing the straps out for chains is a very good idea. I don't think there is much you can do about fixing the discoloration on the hardware.

I had this bright idea once of wanting to electroplate the frames back to gold. Then I looked up how much those units cost and gave up immediately! It would be nice if you could find the same size kisslock frames and just replace them. I haven't explored the options.

Coachies are probably tired of me saying this, but I've only rehabbed one pre-creed Bonnie Cashin Coach bag but I dunked it and it came out great - and I think dunking is the best way to try to get rid of that ugly spot on your bag but it is a risk.
See the link below:

But I got my little bag very cheaply so I might be more cautious if it had been an expensive bag; but my golden rule is "if I am unwilling to wear it in public in the current condition then I may as well go for it!" but it is up to you.

In regards to the plating., there is a product called Rub n Buff that I have used to restore lost plating on Coach jewelry and hangtags and it worked well. I have never used it on the hardware on a bag and it may not hold up well with a lot of handling - but again - if I am unwilling to carry it in the current condition then I may as well go for it! See the link below. Let us know how it comes out whatever you decide to do, and good luck to you!
