I have rehabbed several Coach products that are made of (or lined with) the 65th Anniversary Legacy Striped sateen fabric, like your wristlet. They look delicate but they are tough! They hold up very well and rehab nicely.

You could put that wristlet in a lingerie bag (or tie it up in a pillowcase) and cycle it through the washer with Woolite. But if you prefer you can handwash it in the sink with Dawn and scrub it with a soft brush, like a nail brush.

Arrange it nicely on a towel to dry so that it doesn't get wrinkled and apply some leather conditioner to the leather parts. When I am done I always spray cloth bags with a fabric protector to help keep them clean, I use Apple Rain Garde.

See links below for before and after pics and info for one of my toughest Legacy Stripe rehabs, the large Katy Travel Tote from 2006, it was in bad shaped and needed a lot of work but it came out well. Your wristlet looks to be in good condition, mostly dirty, so it should clean up nicely. You could use acrylic paint to restore the gold finish on the leather if you wish.

Is your wristlet missing the Coach hangtag? You can call Coach Customer Service and ask them to send a gold metal hangtag as a free replacement.

It's my namesake bag so I had to try and save it! You can see a picture of a Legacy Stripe Wristlet here, this one cost $58 in 2006:

I hope you don't mind a few more questions, but I've been reading through the forum and was wondering about leather conditioner (and leather cleaner). I've never bought either, and I was hoping for recommendations? From what I've read in the forum, I've seen Blackrock come up a lot, as well as Renapur. As a newbie, I'm thinking that starting with Blackrock might okay? Though should I get a separate leather cleaner as well? (and erm, which Blackrock product? Sorting through the several on Amazon, haha.)

I mostly am interested in preventative care at this point in regards to other bags (should I be conditioning regularly? Only as I see scratches? Cleaning?), but I'm also excited to tackle this small project with my wristlet, to start. I finally have some time to dedicate to it, so that's my plan for this evening!

I use Leather CPR as my main conditioner. I've used Blackrock as a final coat to help protect and give a nice glow. It helps disguise light scratches too. I just got a jar of Renapur and will be trying it out on my next project, after reading "glowing" reports here!

I condition all my bags every few months with CPR and/or Blackrock, depending on what each bag needs (light cleaning, light scuffs or scratches, type of leather).

Have fun with your first project!

I know she’s not Coach but wondering if anyone on this thread has rehabbed any very vintage Gucci bags? I just got this old gal authenticated and she dates from the late 50’s-early 60’s. I don’t know what kind of leather it is but is nothing I’ve ever worked with before. She’s pretty dinged up but overall in great shape. Thoughts?

I rehabbed a 90s Gucci. It was pebbled leather with suede lining. I didn't dunk.

That's beautiful! I'd just condition.

All the tools I use are in that picture. To be honest I use my fingers usually to start getting it back on and finish with that blue tools round head to lay the prongs flat. The Orange tool and the blue one are different versions of panel tools used in car interiors and are what I use to get prongs up. The little orange guy is my newest addition and works awesome! It comes to such a sharp point that I haven’t had to use an exacto blade to start getting prongs up. They’re available on amazon for like 6 bucks a set.

@Busykitty I've been trying to figure out a reliable way to remove turnlocks, and am happy to see your posts about this!

I've looked on Amazon, and can't figure out what kind of blue tool you're using.
Would you be able to post a picture of the blue tool, and/or link to the listing where you purchased it from?

And maybe link to the orange tool, too? (I think I've found something like that on Amazon, but not positive.)

Sorry if you've answered this already!

Me again! Was at the thrift store today and found a suede bag that, thanks to the authentication thread, I've learned is a Soho swingback.

It's pretty filthy, especially the tassel and the lip of the bag (and... everywhere else).

I've been doing a lot of searching the thread and...do you think I should try a washing machine and follow up with a suede brush? Something else instead? Any suggestions are appreciated!

Also ah, suggestions for a suede brush is also appreciated, as I need to buy one :D

I think you should start with Leather CPR, it is a good all-purpose leather conditioner. I use products like blackrocks as a finishing coat to restore sheen and color to older, faded bags. For your wristlet, I would give it a bath (or 2 baths if it doesn't come clean!) Arrange it on a towel to dry, turning occasionally. When the leather is not quite dry I would give it an application of Leather CPR, after it is dry I would give it another application and buff. And if I felt adventurous, I would mix Leather CPR and gold acrylic paint and try to restore the gold finish on the leather - but you probably don't need to do that, see how it looks and then decide.

You won't need a leather cleaner because you are giving it a bath!
