Yeah, the black water is suspicious.

I was just reading the reviews on Amazon for Blackrock. It seems they may have changed the formula sometime last year. They definitely changed the packaging.

Interesting about the formula change. My product is in fact the grayish brown paste pictured on the right. I bought it directly from the Blackrocks website.

I've noticed that the new stuff is runnier. The old stuff used to get too thick if you kept the jar around long. I think they both smelled like petroleum if I'm remembering right.

They changed the formula over a year ago. My last 5 or 6 jars are the new stuff - the gray one in the smaller clear jar.
Did you notice any change in how it worked on your bags from the original formula? Do you use it sparingly like it says to? I almost feel like I couldn't get an even application because I was baaaarely getting anything on my application cloth but somehow the bag ended up still sticky.

I haven't noticed any change. I think the new formula is easier to spread because the other one was drier and waxier. I don't put it on with a cloth. I use my hands to spread it around. I put a fair sized gob on, spread it as far as I can, then wipe it fairly vigorously with a paper towel.

I wish someone would do a video on how they do it.

I'm guessing it's easier to spread because they added more petroleum distillates to the carnauba wax, thus the smell.

Renapur says it's made of "natural ingredients including "Beeswax, Carnauba wax, Avocado oil, Jojoba oil." No mention of petroleum distillates.

All this talk about Renapur makes me want to try it too! But I also do like Blackrocks. It is almost always sticky/tacky for me because I apply too much and when I wipe with the paper towel it gets all these pieces of the paper on it (maybe I have cheap paper towels, maybe I’m not wiping quickly enough), but after I let it dry a few days it turns out fine. I like the shine and how it hides so much.
