This thread is a little too big for me to tackle, so bear with me if this has already been asked.

What do you ladies recommend for peeling/cracked leather lining. I'm assuming stripping the top layer of the leather is my best bet (any tips on how to do that easily?) But also open to other suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Could you post some pictures? How bad is it, is it possible that fabric/leather glue would help to stabilize it? What type of leather is the lining, suede or smooth?

Smooth leather (outside is pebbled, but that shouldn't matter? This is my first rodeo so I don't know).

Here's a photo.

Second on that! I like it much more than BlackRock. Dosent leave a sticky residue. Just goes on easy and absorbs in well.
I just do not think I can use Blackrocks very much. I don't really like the sticky residue. It makes me use so little of the product trying to avoid it that I feel like I am not using enough for it to even do anything and certainly not enough to be getting it on evenly. I have a black Station that I dunked that I just cannot get soft even after prob a dozen coats of CPR. I just did a Blackrocks coat, so I'll see how that turns out when the stickiness dries.

A dozen coats of CPR is a lot of coats! I'm wondering what is preventing it from penetrating and softening the bag. Possibly the bag had shoe polish or some kind of refinisher on it?

Regarding the Blackrock, it sounds like it's sitting on top rather than penetrating.

Here are the instructions from the Blackrock jar:

"Using fingertips, apply a very small amount of Blackrock evenly, allowing it to permeate entire article. Take a paper towel and rub entire article, lifting out dirt and excess Blackrock. Buff with a polishing brush & shine cloth for high luster.

Before applying Blackrock, I let the bag dry completely between CPR coats, and brush with a horsehair brush between coats. After applying Blackrock, I don't usually wipe it with a paper towel, I just let it sit overnight. If it still feel a little tacky I wipe it with a microfiber cloth and then brush.

I'm still happy with Blackrock, but when I use up the rest of this jar, I'm going to try Renapur.

ETA: If I can find it! It seems to be disappearing at an alarming rate!

I'm not sure! I have actually dunked this bag twice. The first time, it released a good amount of color in the bath and the water was black after about 15 minutes. I can't remember exactly what I conditioned with, it might have been Coach's leather conditioner. Seems like I did not like the shape it dried in or something, so after a couple of weeks I dunked it again. The second time I had CPR to work with and I feel like the results were a little better, and it definitely dried in a better shape. But I could never get it back to the soft feel, even though I want it to be stiff and hold its shape, I want it soft too, so I don't know if I should just be happy with it. I just recently acquired the Blackrocks so I haven't given it much chance, but so far I just don't really like it.

I don't know, maybe I just don't like this particular Station bag. It arrived to me filthy with heavy verdigris. The leather strip holding the turnlock is wrinkled and I never have liked that. I got it for maybe only $40 so I could potentially replace it without losing too much investment. Not sure what I want to do yet.

Hello rehabbers, I was wondering if anyone has ever given a bath to a Madison Phoebe 26224? This leather has a different feel from the other older bags I've cleaned. Plus I'm concerned about color bleed of the interior fabric (which is blue). Has anyone had good results from bathing a bag like this? Thankphoebe bag - 1.jpg you!

Yeah, the black water is suspicious.

I was just reading the reviews on Amazon for Blackrock. It seems they may have changed the formula sometime last year. They definitely changed the packaging.
