Well, after the whole rehabbing process it seems I didn't really make a dent in the brownish tint over it. :confused1: maybe I've done something wrong?
Or maybe it's just stuck like this?
30 minute wash
Dried overnight
Applied 4 coats of leather CPR throughout the day
Dried overnight
1 coat of blackrocks

It was looking so good, but now I'm discouraged that it is stuck like this. :hrmm:
It seems maybe slightly better.

ETA: I seems like the brown has come off in some places. (Last picture)

Maybe it’s the same shoe polish thing that I am fighting with?

It might very well be. Maybe I should give it another bath and soak it longer then do the acetone? I'm at a loss. Lol

If you think that there is some kind of coating on it (paint, show polish?) giving it that brownish tint, then you should probably try to get it off.

Should I use the acetone? Regular fingernail polish remover? Extra strength? And should I give it a bath first then do it?
You don't need to give it a bath first. You should give it a bath afterwards to get rid of the acetone. You should get acetone without any additives. They often put other ingredients in fingernail polish remover.

Oh okay! I figured all the coats of leather conditioner would hinder the process. I am going on a trip tomorrow till Sunday to see my husband(work won't let him off :/) but as soon as I get back I will definitely start working on it to let y'all know how it goes. Hopefully it's just shoe polish or something I can get off.
I'm assuming it's something the previous owner had put on it because you can see spots starting to shine through.
I would like to say that this is a pain in the tooshie but honestly it's been fun. Lol a little disheartening at times but fun.

ShopHousingWorks has a burgundy "Made in the United States" attaché/brief listed for $65 BIN. It's worn but it looks like it would rehab well. It has not been authenticated but I have bought a few things from them in the past and haven't had any problems.
