Great! Just double checking. I'm two coats into leather CPR now and I think it looks great. Only one corner may need the blackrocks.
It looks good. You'll want to use the black rocks all over. It adds a nice sheen and protects the leather. Put it on and wipe immediately with a paper towel. Buff with the paper towel. Otherwise, it will get sticky.

Very nice! I thought it might turn out to be Navy, and it definitely is.

I agree with @whateve, wait until the CPR is completely dry before Blackrocking. I'd use a light coat over the entire bag, let that dry overnight, then brush.

I got this station bag in a thredup rescue box. I am not sure if I caused this discoloration. I washed it in woolite and applied Marten’s miracle balm before it dried, I used a hair drier to make it easier to wipe it off. It almost looks like a prior owner may have applied shoe polish, or my use of the hair drier may have removed some of the color unevenly. I obviously have no Idea what I am doing. The darker picture was when it was still wet.

It could be shoe polish. My suggestion is to keep scrubbing and washing it until you get most of it off and then condition and finish it off with an application of Black Rocks to even out the flaws.

Other TPFers may have suggestions about ways to remove the shoe polish.

I am not familiar with the Martin's Balm that you used. I usually wash with Dawn Dish Soap and I use Leather CPR to condition and Black Rocks to finish the surface.

Here is a link for a Coach Briefcase that I rehabbed that had been treated with multiple applications of shoe polish - it was challenging but it came out okay in the end. Good luck!

I love it when you find some of your rehabs for examples of a certain problem. It gives us newbies hope.
And that rehab looks great. Do you still have it?

I was just thinking that a Magic Eraser sponge might work on your bag. Don't be discouraged, we have all learned from trial and error and experimentation - and some rehabs are not as successful as we would wish. Hang in there!

Thank you, my husband used that bag for years before I bought a new Coach Briefcase for him. He told me that a co-worker had admired his old bag and asked if he could buy it. I cleaned it up a bit and conditioned it and my husband gave it to his friend as a gift. As far as I know, it's still in service. Those classic Coach bags really last a long time!
