I hope my comment didn't come over as rude! I was just meaning for myself if is not practical. I am constantly banging my purse around and not usually paying attention to where I set it down so I should stay away from Vachetta!
I nodded along to your comment as I have been reading through this vachetta business and realized *holy cow I'm glad I don't have a vachetta bag!* For my lifestyle, I can't carry a bag where I have to worry about water splashes or rain; I'm just too utilitarian with my bags for that to be practical and I'd end up staining or ruining the bag. And that's not fair to a lovely handbag.

Thanks to @redwood66 @coach943 @nursebetty @Busykitty @artax two and @Catbird9 for all the information on how to care for vachetta, and for unknowingly convincing me to make sure to avoid them in the future!

I agree, not a good idea to dunk. Also I read that baby wipes should be avoided. I'd dampen a cloth with vinegar and wipe down the outside. If the lining isn't too soiled I would just use vinegar on it too, but if you decide to wash it, I'd recommend be careful not to get the vachetta wet.

By the way, great deal on a gorgeous bag!
I wanted to ask if I dilute the vinegar or use it straight? If diluted what is the ratio? I know the Ali is going to need to be cleaned and I don't want to start with a dunk.

Long time no rehab lol Today I received my aubergine Ramblers Legacy that I just scored. She’s in good shape just a little edge wear but a dunk and conditioner should help. Excited to have a purple bag back in my collection!

I've been looking at the ramblers for a while now. I saw your purple rambler and thought "I want a purple one like that! So off I searched. I found one for auction and after 9 days, I won! Hopefully it's as nice as yours!

Hi all-
Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post in. But about 8 years ago I bought this bag (I think it's a NYC saddle) from a flea market for $5 - I'm looking to finally rehab it!

I'm certain it's real, but after looking at the creed after years of having it, I noticed that someone stamped out the serial. You can kind of see the numbers under..but my question is, why would someone do that? For background, I bought this bag from a giant pile of bags on the floor. The guy didn't even know what kind of bag it was, he was just like "whatever that one is $5."

Just kind of curious as to why someone would stamp out the serial. Does anyone have any experience running across a bag that's had the same fate? Anyone know why this might be?

Thanks! Looking forward to seeing how my OG bag comes out - will post updates!

Someone might obliterate a serial number if they knew it would be recognized as fake, but in your case, the bag is definitely authentic. There's no logical reason to do that.

People do weird things to handbags. I rehabbed a bag (a United Airlines Stewardess) that had the name "Pat" scrawled in permanent black marker inside the flap. Why would anyone do that???

Maybe the ower thought it was a tracking number? Someone could find her????
And writing your name in a bag is like what you do when you dont want your child to loose thier jacket. Maybe the purse belonged to a child?

My guess on Pat is that if every woman you work with has the exact same bag you want to make sure you have yours. I sort of have this image of someone going “oh sorry I ate your Snickers and bought a coffee with your $$, I thought it was my bag they all look alike”
