Thanks Chow! Miss all of you guys on the thrifting thread, but now that the kids are in school, I'll be back. I have to pop over and report on my Goodwill Outlet adventure - 16 lbs of goodies. No Coach though. :(

We miss you, can't wait to see what you post! 16 lbs! Did you go to one of the donation centers, I've yet to go back. It's on my to do list!

Congrats! It's addictive so be careful.

I don't really have any bags to rehab right now and I shouldn't spend money on any new ones, so I bought some yarn and am going to try to teach myself to knit! Lol!
Good for you! It's never too late to learn to knit. I find crocheting to be more fun though. Last winter, I knitted a ton of scarves but no one uses them in California! I also have piles of afghans!

It's official! My first rehab is done, and I think it turned out great. Of course, I picked an easy one to get my feet wet. :smile1: This was the one I picked up for my daughter to use at school - only $4! Here's her before - she was a little dirty and had a couple of big spots.

I scrubbed her with some Dawn and a sponge and hung her to dry. Then I put a little Leather CPR on the leather parts and gave her a buff. She cleaned up very well!

Ladies, I wanted to thank you all so very much for your inspiration! It wouldn't have been possible without you! On to the next one!

And a P.S. for whateve - my green geometric came today - she's gorgeous!
She came out great! This is the same bag I got for my daughter.
Congratulations on your geometric. I'm glad she was in good condition. I'm just a little jealous of the bargain you got!

Thanks Chow! I went to the one in Reading. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Thanks whateve - I remember you calling twins on this one. I guess you and I have excellent taste in bags, lol! I have some questions about the geo, I'll post her in a bit. Remember that brown spot on the piping of my yellow Wendie? I saw the same thing on another yellow bag - I think your theory about the glue darkening the leather is spot on.

Thanks for your help everyone. It was a good deal but postage to Australia is high - $30. (I did buy a Car Shoe bag at the same time so got combined postage). Here is the link to the original listing. I will take pics tonight now that I have the bag but I need to leave for work now.

Thanks ledobe, but it's too late, lol! Remember my stash??

FYI, there are some great learn to knit videos on youtube - good luck!

I got on YouTube a couple of nights ago and got started, and then decided I was too tired to learn anything new that night-lol

I can crochet, but I've never knitted so I thought I'd exercise my old brain. It's also meant to help keep me from randomly scrolling through eBay while I'm watching TV!

I doubt I'd ever make anything more complex than a scarf, I don't think I have the patience for it.

I can't watch TV without doing something else at the same time. That's one of the reasons I knit or crochet too. I also work on crossword puzzles and sudoku. Otherwise I'll snack.

Hey everyone - quick question. I have two bags that I think I really don't need to dunk. They are like new except the Hadley feels a bit dry. Should I put a few coats of Leather CPR on them and then something to protect them? I just don't want them to get really shiny. I've read all of the suggestions in this thread a few times, I think I'm just really looking for permission, ha ha! Thanks!!

Cute bags! I would put some Lexol on to condition. It doesn't change the look of the leather. Once you start using them, they can become shiny with wear. That usually takes awhile, though.

I know how you feel. I'm always afraid to mess with perfection. Sometimes the conditioner will make marks appear that you didn't even know were there. I would use Leather CPR. I don't think anything else is necessary.

Do you have a pic of the painted part? You may be able to use acetone to even it out

Thanks for your interest tetondeb. Here are some pics of the bag. I think it has been sprayed. You can see it on the edges of the snap and there looks to be overspray on the inside of the pocket which is lighter - raw? - on one side but perhaps this is normal for this style of bag?

I applied a small amount of non-acetone nail polish remover and it lifted it!
Do you think I could apply it all over without damaging the leather?

This is my project for the October long weekend so I need to have a plan!

I'm really surprised the non-acetone nail polish remover worked. It must not be acrylic because I've never been able to clean that off. I'm not sure about shoe polish - I don't think I've ever had to deal with that, but other people have had a lot of trouble removing it. The nail polish remover shouldn't damage the leather. I'm glad this is working out so well for you.

Thanks Whateve. I'll buy a large bottle for next weekend and take my time with it. If I can get all of the polish or whatever it is off with that should I then give her a bath?

Hi Ladies, Seeing all the amazing transformations on here I think inspired me to go in a bit too confident and I'm now worried I'm in a little over my head.
From what I'm gathering for the first bag I need to wash then Leather CPR and Blackrock for the edges, acrylic paint for the little spot on the handle.
What about the second one? Is the second one the easier rehab - wash and leather CPR?
