Hi Ladies, Seeing all the amazing transformations on here I think inspired me to go in a bit too confident and I'm now worried I'm in a little over my head.
From what I'm gathering for the first bag I need to wash then Leather CPR and Blackrock for the edges, acrylic paint for the little spot on the handle.
What about the second one? Is the second one the easier rehab - wash and leather CPR?

You've got it right. They both should come out great.

Here is my Letter Brief after a bath, two coats of Lexol, and a coat of Blackrocks. It's not a huge difference, other than the edges are less scuffed looking, and it has an overall more luscious look. I think it looks pretty nice!

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I feel terrible since I encouraged you to buy it. It is almost impossible to remove the color. I'm planning on trying something called Rit color remover, but from what I understand, it will remove all color, possibly leaving it a dull gray color. I didn't notice the mention of polish in the listing. It's best to avoid anything with polish on it. I hope the seller refunds your money plus the postage.

whateve, I used this color remover once and I was happy with it. It didn't remove all the color but did lighten it quite a bit which was enough for me to redye. It didn't have a grayish color at all, either.

Thanks for letting me know. I've been putting it off because I don't know exactly how to do it. Did you do it on the stove? I don't think I have a non-aluminum pot that is big enough. I was hoping I could just use really hot water in a plastic paint tub.

It looks fantastic! I love this bag. Those are the kind of old Coach bags that I just love. I'm going to have to start watching for one of them.

I did the same thing! That bag sat and sat and sat. Finally, I got tired of being a wimp and just did it.
Yes, I used hot water in a plastic tub and let it sit for a while.
The amount of water I used didn't cover the whole bag so I sat it on one side for a bit then turned it over.
I'm very happy with it and won't hesitate to use it again.

Great! Now I don't have an excuse to put it off any longer.

Hi ladies, I have a Hippie Flap bag from the 70s that has wrinkling in the leather on one side. Is it possible to get these wrinkles out? Apologies if this is a basic question - I'm new to rehab-ing! Also, what would you recommend to remove water spots from leather?

TIA.

You're right! She came out great!

It looks great!

Great job. It looks lovely. Is there a 'before' pic?

Thanks all! Here's the before pic. Considering it's 25 years old it was in very good condition, but scuffed on the edges and dry.

[I've used Blackrocks (after Leather CPR) on bags of many colors, from light tans to black. I've seen a temporary darkening immediately after the product is applied. But it seems to go back to the proper color as the product "dries." While Blackrocks does condition and clean leather, it contains Carnuba wax, which lends itself to be more of a finishing product. IMHO Blackrocks "deepens" color and gives the leather more of a glow. And because it contains wax, buffs to a nice sheen. ...I hope this makes sense :) I have no experience (to date) with wood n stuff.[/QUOTE]

OH MY GOODNES!! :( So I finally got my BT court bag and did the bag bath as per the usual. Everything was going really really well, and I was astonished that the pen marks came out with some vigorous rubbing. While drying I noticed where I was rubbing super hard to take out the marks (they did come out!) were lighter white spots. I didn't use rubbing alcohol, just a towel with bag bath water that had woolite in it. Anyway, I kept conditioning the bag with leather cpr and I thought it would be brilliant to add an extra dollop on the lighter spots....

So NOW there are water/grease stains on the lighter spots >.< Ughhhh!! I have rubbed in some cornstarch and put a lamp over it to hopefully have the corn starch absorb in. OMG I AM SO MAD AT MYSELF!!! The bag was literally PERFECT after the bath but I had to just do something stupid to give it a watermark/grease stain. So. Mad. At. MYSELF!!

IThe bag is currently have a cornstarch treatment so I'll post an after photo tomorrow.

Based on this mega long post, do you think I should give it a second bag bath? It was just starting to dry super structured but I wanted to ask before moving forward. I learned my lesson!

If all else fails, another bath sometimes works.
