I thought I had read a while back that some people didn't live close to a Tuesday Morning store for the Leather CPR and had to order through Amazon, so here's another option, I walked into T.J. Maxx yesterday and they had it there. I believe it was either 16 or 18 oz. for 6.99. Two dollars cheaper than Tuesday Morning.

OH MY GOODNES!! :( So I finally got my BT court bag and did the bag bath as per the usual. Everything was going really really well, and I was astonished that the pen marks came out with some vigorous rubbing. While drying I noticed where I was rubbing super hard to take out the marks (they did come out!) were lighter white spots. I didn't use rubbing alcohol, just a towel with bag bath water that had woolite in it. Anyway, I kept conditioning the bag with leather cpr and I thought it would be brilliant to add an extra dollop on the lighter spots....

So NOW there are water/grease stains on the lighter spots >.< Ughhhh!! I have rubbed in some cornstarch and put a lamp over it to hopefully have the corn starch absorb in. OMG I AM SO MAD AT MYSELF!!! The bag was literally PERFECT after the bath but I had to just do something stupid to give it a watermark/grease stain. So. Mad. At. MYSELF!!

IThe bag is currently have a cornstarch treatment so I'll post an after photo tomorrow.

Based on this mega long post, do you think I should give it a second bag bath? It was just starting to dry super structured but I wanted to ask before moving forward. I learned my lesson!

How many coats of Leather CPR have you applied? The leather still looks dry in your picture. When it is completely reconditioned, the spots may turn out to be fine. Maybe another bath and fully reconditioning will help.

ETA: Also, I always wait 24 hours after applying conditioner before I judge what condition the bag is in. I've had bags look terrible right after I apply something and think I've really screwed them up, but a day later, the bag is fine. Sometimes the conditioner changes the way the bag looks immediately, but after it soaks in, it is fine. It may just be that you need to keep conditioning the bag or try a different type of conditioner.

Hi Ladies, Seeing all the amazing transformations on here I think inspired me to go in a bit too confident and I'm now worried I'm in a little over my head.
From what I'm gathering for the first bag I need to wash then Leather CPR and Blackrock for the edges, acrylic paint for the little spot on the handle.
What about the second one? Is the second one the easier rehab - wash and leather CPR?

2 beautiful bags...I have a black one like #1, but a little taller, and an exact twin of #2...and you're on the right track with your rehab plan. I rehabbed both of mine with very good results. Light-colored leather can be tricky, handles especially, being darkened with age and oil from hands. You might have some luck with a de-greaser like Simple Green or Mean Green. I've had luck with it...just don't rub toooo hard and make sure you rinse it really well. Getting some CPR and Blackrocks into the piping should be amazing. Good Luck...can't wait to see your results!

Here is my Letter Brief after a bath, two coats of Lexol, and a coat of Blackrocks. It's not a huge difference, other than the edges are less scuffed looking, and it has an overall more luscious look. I think it looks pretty nice!

Yes, luscious is a good word...beautiful job...you did great!

Hi ladies, I have a Hippie Flap bag from the 70s that has wrinkling in the leather on one side. Is it possible to get these wrinkles out? Apologies if this is a basic question - I'm new to rehab-ing! Also, what would you recommend to remove water spots from leather?

TIA.

Can you post a "wrinkle" picture? I had success getting (most of the) wrinkles out of a 1999 Hippie Flap bag by using warmer bath water than usual, and probably a longer soak. Here's a link that might be helpful: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach/coach-rehab-and-rescue-club-624452-226.html#post21999426

When you start conditioning after the bath, sometimes massaging the leather can help with wrinkles too.

Spots are always tricky 'cause you may not know exactly where they came from. Sometimes spots will disappear when the leather is completely saturated in the bath...fingers crossed for you.

Keep asking questions...that's how we all started. Good Luck!

Agree with this.

I don't have a Tuesday Morning anymore and I don't have a T.J. Maxx either. Sometimes Marshalls has it but it is hit or miss. When all else fails, I get it from Bed Bath and Beyond and use a coupon. One time they had the large bottle marked with the price of the small bottle. Otherwise, it's like $14.99 for the 18 oz. size but they let me use the $5 off of $15 on it.

If all else fails, another bath sometimes works.

Sorry should've clarified but that was a before pic, and before the bag bath, it was very, very dry.

I am happy to confirm that CORNSTARCH works on oil stains!! At least for me it did! The leather CPR I dumped onto it without spreading properly left a oily stain but after rubbing cornstarch in, and then moisturizing with more leather cpr 12 hours later, voila! The stain is gone! I also did this to little marks/spots that remained after the bag bath and the cornstarch removed some of them (I guess these were oily spots?). I might give it a second bag bath since I missed a mark during it's first bath on the front, and it's bugging me.. But maybe I should just leave it and enjoy it! Pics to come!

I have an obviously lighter faded spot where I rubbed too hard.. Aside from conditioner and dye, would anything help it?

Sorry, I'm a little late to this conversation but I just wanted to mention that most Ace Hardwares have Leather CPR for about $10-$12 I think. That is where I have always gotten mine (plus I've worked at a couple different ones and they have all it).

So my suede love is getting me into trouble again. I ordered a bag that was somewhat badly listed. No style name or number in the description but adequately photographed, or so I thought, and I didn't pay that much for it.
Since the bag was dark I expected it to be dirtier than it appeared, and it was. And it smelled dirty. No particular smell but just yucky dirty leather. However, one of the reasons I took a chance on this one was the hardware.

But here's the clincher:: There was a picture of the creed but not the full lining. Description said "small mark on lining. The inside was FILTHY and covered with ink. It's like someone intentionally left an open gel pen in it on a daily basis for months. So I go back and review the listing and she most definitely deliberately hid this. She photographed the only clean part of the lining. It also had some yellowish staining and a candy wrapper stuck to the inside of the bag!

So I messaged her, asked for a big discount or return with full shipping both ways. The very few times I've had to contact a seller I've gotten an immediate response, and it's been 24 hours. Since she took over a week to ship I'm not too optimistic I'll hear from her.

I actually want the discount, not the return, but she won't get more than neutral feedback from me. At some level I feel like when I bid on a badly listed item I'm willing to suck it up, but this was deliberately misleading. She also under reported the outside filth, but I wasn't expecting it to be clean judging from what I could see in the picture.

So how long would you wait before you filed a SNAD? I'll for sure give her till tomorrow, but to be honest I wish she'd just give me a discount so I can try to clean this baby up! :roflmfao:
