I use Leather Therapy all the time, it's great, then I finish with Blackrock. I wonder where Jenny is? She lives in AU and could probably let you know where she purchases her products.

Thanks for that chowlover. I'll give it a try. Also, I've taken a risk and ordered some Black Rock through ebay. It wasn't as expensive as the Leather CPR and because its a cream and not a liquid hopefully it will get though customs. I'd love to hear from Jenny. Aus is a big country but the postal system is good.

I've been working on my first rehab, a Shelton bag in British Tan. Well, it's the first one I started, I have several in various stages at this point. Anyway, She's had several coats of both Apple and Leather CPR at this point, and has been sitting for a week or so. The leather is very easily scratched though, The blue arrow shows where I lightly brushed with my nail, and it doesn't rub away easily. Should I continue with the conditioner? I wasn't waiting very long between coats at first, maybe that was my error. Any tips will be appreciated. I want to carry this bag soon.

What a great bag! I think what you are noticing is typical of vintage Coach. Rub that area with your finger and see if it disappears. That usually works for me.

I find brushing with a horsehair brush helps. Also I have found the leather on some bags firms up over time. I think the bags where I used a final coat of Obenauf's became less prone to scratches like this faster.

Thanks Aggie! It doesn't rub away. I think I'll try some additional conditioner. I need to work on the edges of the piping anyway. I'm just afraid to over condition. As long as it's drinking it in evenly, it's okay I guess?

I have some Blackrock's that I'd planned to use as a final coat before buffing. I'll pick up a brush too, and see if that helps.
Thanks for the quick reply!

Yes, it probably needs more conditioner. I usually use Blackrocks at the end. Some people think it changes the color, but I think it restores the color. Once I thought I had put too much on, but the bag eventually absorbed it.

So I tried the color remover. I used two packages. The only container I could find that was big enough was the bottom of a guinea pig cage. I have no idea how much water I used. I let the bag sit for almost an hour even though the recommended time was 30 minutes. I was hoping that it would even out the color but it didn't. It got somewhat lighter but there is just as much contrast between the light and dark spots as before. The zipper, which was originally black, ended up tan. The bag was originally tan and I had tried to dye it brown. Parts of the leather turned an olive green, which is really pretty. I'd love to be able to dye it that color but the reason I was using the color remover in the first place was that I couldn't get it to accept dye evenly. I'm pretty much where I was before, but maybe worse, because I don't know how much more this bag can take. I think the stitching is starting to look a little ragged. On top of all that, I had tried to sand this bag earlier so now the texture is fuzzy. It might be a lost cause.
Oh no! I'm so sorry this didn't work for you! I feel so bad now. I wonder what the difference is between what you did and what I did?

You're working on one of the older, all leather bags right?? Geez...this stinks.
