Ok, so I was never happy how my purple station came out. I put waaaaaay to much obenaufs oil, while the bag was still wet!( big no no) to try and even out the color, and well, it got really dark, the leather looked very dull, and it started to smell like old oil. So today I decided to experiment and try my leather degreaser on it. It's very scary looking I know but it will pull out that oil and I can start fresh.
Looks like spa day, with a detoxifying clay mask! I can't wait to see how this turns out.Ok, so I was never happy how my purple station came out. Thanks for posting. I intend to get the degreaser. I want to try it on a red basic bag I put Obenauf’s on way back when and want to see what it does for some older handles that are discolored.Ok, so I was never happy how my purple station came out. I haven't had a shoe polish bag yet but I did have a fake stewardess that I destroyed. It was gross.I am coming to the conclusion, part of being a seasoned vintage Coach aficionado is ending up with shoe polish and/ or a fake at some point! I got sucked into a fake C@urt Bag early on. I keep it with my bags where I can see it as a reminder![]()
I can't wait to see how this turns out because I have been afraid to do any newer bags like this.
So far so good. Still very wet, but you can see the small straps on the front are drying first, to the true color. The lining is just nice and clean now.I definitly want to know how this turnes out, I have the same set of bags in the same color, the small one doesn't need anything but the big one, will need too be dunked sooo I'm waiting with baited breath on your results.![]()
Lake what color is the lining in your bag? Mine is beige on the big bag the small one has legacy stripes.View attachment 4598889

Oh you are such an enabler. I had to buy this same purple bag on ebay. It was $55 but looks to be in excellent condition. Maybe I won't have to dunk it but just wipe clean and condition. Does the lining pull out or is it sewn in?View attachment 4598889

Lining pulled out easily. My bag showed signs of very minor scuffing. Lots of little pen marks on the lining, and a smear of something with a little glitter, glue ? nail polish?. The glitter smear did not come out, but the rest of the minor stuff on the lining did. No due transfer, yet, as far as I can see. And it was kinda squashed, even though it is not substantive like other bags, and would probably fill out nicely being used.Oh you are such an enabler. I had to buy this same purple bag on ebay. Edit - I had a purple Fossil foldover bag that I loved but it got very worn out and the leather faded on the corners terribly. Hopefully this line of Coach will hold the color better.
This does look very scary! I don't even see the color purple in that pic! What is this degreaser you're using again?Ok, so I was never happy how my purple station came out.
