Hello Narnanz, I have been rehabbing for a very short time so please take my opinion as a newbie rehabber. If it is not in your possession, and as you said it is $$$ to get Coach in NZ, I would pass. That being said, I, with my limited rehabbing experience, have had great results on bags that I thought hopeless to rehab.
We newbies must stick together.
I am passing on that bag but like the style of the ergo so will look into it next year. I want another Patricia in brown if possible. They all seem to be black bags out there at the pricerange I want to pay...and Im not a black bag girl.

Wishing you luck during your Italy journey!!!! Oh! and if you ever take a journey to NY.... check the thrift stores. I got a black ergo for my daughter there. 5$. Her coworkers cannot believe what I found! Oh! and no stain!

I sometimes think its the little marks on a preloved bag that give it character...otherwise all bags would look the same.
The Rambler is looking good...the few small marks on the back didnt come out but I wasnt worried about that when I bought it. I just fell in love with the colour.
I love all the marks on my NYC classic shoulder bag. They make me wonder what kind of adventures my bag has been on.

Is the suede inside the court bag supposed to “bleed”? I just realized that my new to me court bag is actually transferring blue dye on my hand.. when I first got the bag I wiped it down (because it’s in very good condition and seems clean) with Lysol wipes, and while I did notice colour on the wipe, I didn’t think it would rub off on my hand!
I haven’t experienced this with any of my other vintage bags... is there a way to stop the colour transfer? I don’t want my knuckles to turn blue after every time I stick my hand in my bag...

Hello Morgan_Bellini! How do you avoid scratching the brass with the steel wool? Thanks! (I am still in awe about all those fabulous bags you got!!!)
Hi Jacynthe! I do what Houseof999 does, I just use the really fine 000 steel wool in circular movements and the brass looks nice and shiny when I'm done. I follow up with Brasso for a finishing touch. The one time I did use my Dremel I scratched the brass more than I liked. The steel wool takes more elbow grease but that's the method I'm using for now until I can get a better tool for my Dremel.

ETA: and wear gloves when handling steel wool! I think the package says to.

Thank you for your very useful advice Morgan_Bellini!!! I might have missed them but have you posted any rehabs of the mega load you got not so long ago? Maybe they didn't need any rehab at all.
And you avatar is to die for too! Although I have a sweet spot for the Willis.

Hello all! I recently acquired a station bag and it has 'ripples' on the tongue below that turn lock. I'm going to give her a bath and wanted to ask if you had any suggestions in smoothing this out. Here is a photo showing the ripples. Thank you in advance!!!

Thank you! The Willis is one of my absolute favorites too! I carry mine every day and it's perfect. I have not rehabbed any of my Craigslist haul yet and they do need it. They have gross hardware and an old basement smell. They don't smell musty though, that's good. I have a week off of work for Christmas and that's when I'll start fixing them up. I've been scared to dunk them because of their age but I have to do something with them, they can't just sit in a bin until my family sells them at my estate sale, ha ha! They have a lot of verdigris. I need to do some research before I can tackle that. Verdigris is so gross.

I'd lay it flat while drying (see below), and put a flat weight on it, such as a small heavy book.

This what my Dremel did to one of my turn locks:

This is steel wool followed by Brasso. There are still some scratches on the tip of the lock but I can't remember how I did that. I don't think that came from steel wool.

And this is nothing but Brasso on non-lacquered brass. So easy! Just rub it on, wipe it off. Magic!
