Eeeeever so slightly by the turlock, everytime I condition it it gets lighter. This pic below is the first night pic.
Nice though. You have to have a dead on pic up close to see it.
If you can , at your convenience whenever, another question. Did you watch the short video where they cleaned it off with a product? How did you remove the residue after the waiting period?
Since I use Lexol Cleaner, I was thinking of using that.

I did watch that video and I did get the cleaner as well but, since the degreaser dries to a powder you can brush it off with a horsehair brush, and then wipe off the residual powder with the cleaner, wait until it dries, and apply degreaser again if necessary.

Hey guys, I just got a navy Willis that has faded into almost a dark brownish color. Has anyone had any luck using something like the Kiwi navy colored shoe polish on this glove leather?
I’m not sure I would use shoe polish. I’m using the puff paint technique right now on a black prairie that had a lot of color loss from wear at the edges. Here’s a before and almost done after.

The difference is night and day and coverage was quick. Buffing is essential in between layers though and I added the cpr with the color first after dunking and am now just starting to go over the whole bag with plain cpr.

Please, please whatever you do DON'T use shoe polish. Could you maybe post some pictures of the bag.
There a lots of helpers here to give good and usefull advice.

Thanks guys. What would y’all recommend for a nice navy color restoration? I’ll post pics once it dries. I just soaked it.

See, that's why it would be great to have some idea what it looks like.A lot of times colors come back once you start to use CPR leather conditioner once the bag has dryed some.
I'm a new rehaber myself, I have only done easy stuff up to now. There are two versions of the "vintage" navy Willis, one with gold brass ware that one has the deep dark navy blue.
The other Willis has silver hardware and the color a lighter denim blue.

I have one of each, the dark blue Willis was a breeze, dunk, cpr, blackrock buff and done.
The denim colored one was in horrible condition and I have had to put her aside several times or she would have landed in the trash. One off the problems was shoe polish, so please dont use that on her.

I’m also a green rehabber, but depending on the wear you might be able to use the puff paint technique. You mix the paint with cpr conditioner and I’ve been using a fine sponge to dab it into place, allowing it to dry and buffing in between with a horse hair brush. I did a roughly 40/60 paint/cpr mix.

I wouldn't glue the handle. The rivet is what holds the handle in place. The separation is natural. Just my 2cents.
My only issue is that there’s a bunch of white threads in some kind of ridged plastic that’s breaking down and it makes a crinkling sound when you pick it up. That and you can see the threads. Idk. Did it look like this originally?

Tight and together. Not floppy? I don’t know what I should do. Could I sew it through the side of the rivet so it would be hidden and cinch it back together?

I’ve rehabbed quite a few bags, believe it or not :) just none in navy. I did use kiwi black shoe dye on pretty much all of my black bags, which came out great and didn’t bleed. I guess technically it’s a dye and not a polish. Didn’t need to be sealed with leather sheen either. I’m hoping cpr or blackrock brings back the blue, but it looks pretty brown so I’m cautiously optimistic lol. Mine is the dark one with brass hardware.

My new everyday purse! I just finished her. Accidentally over polished the turnlock, but I’m happy. The seller had applied doc martens wonder balsam and she was still dry when I got her so I purchased some myself. And wow!! I love this stuff!! All the shine and none of the buffing!? What!? Lol
Anyway, I don’t think this crescent was ever really used. She has little to no wear and only had a lot of vertigris around the lock.
I’ll have to take a picture of her in the sun tomorrow. She’s Navy ish and stunning!!

Like I said before, I have little experience and my navy blue one was a breeze I had loads of brown on the lighter Willis, sheer grime and years of neglect, all of it baked in by the sun and then shoe polished to give her some luster. When I dunked her the color showed as long as she was wet. Then the grime came back up.I feel like I'm photo shopping this bag, one pixel at the time.
100% humidity, perma rain for the past month haven't helped either but I think my sheer bull headedness, total surrender by the poor Willis, tons of Cpr and the right color mixture starting to show impovement.I'm using Saphir renovateur with a tad of black matt acrylic mixed with Cpr.Mixed abaut fifty, fifty.
