I have a question about flaps that turn up a bit at the corners. I’m looking at a bag with a turn lock and one side of the flap sort of angles up which would annoy me. Will the flap usually lay flat after dunking and conditioner?

It may depend on the style, how it was stored (which is fixable with dunking) or the piece of leather it was made from. The first and third scenarios might not be changed. That being said, I have seen determined and diligent rehabbers do all sorts of things.

The bag I'm working on now was misshapen. A dunking and conditioning took care of it after I reshaped it while wet. Maybe one of the other, more experienced folks here can help with flaps in particular.

Thank you both for the reply! The flap is only turned up a bit and I don’t see a crease. I will think about it! I would still need to get it authenticated before I make an offer. Thanks!

Okay. So I'm at the point where the bag is fully conditioned and I'll be repairing the tiny blemish you see in the picture. To refresh, early on I discovered a tiny spot on the top of my Willis, near one of the d-rings. It's as if the stress and strain over the years wore a tiny hole clear to the steel holding the d-ring underneath. @whateve suggested I repair it (I was thinking about just leaving it alone).

My question to you all is: how would you go about it? I have leather cement, but it's not like I can pinch the hole shut. It's tiny. I can't grasp it at all. I was considering just spreading a tiny layer of cement over the hole, but wouldn't that leave an imprint, even if painted over? I was even thinking of simply painting over the hole, but then it would chip over time.

Help please? I'm thisclose to finishing this project.

Nevermind. I have looked on Google for a solution, and it's working fine thus far. Stay tuned!
