My recommendations are in green:

COACH LEATHER CLEANER
COACH LEATHER LOTION CONDITIONER
LEATHER CPR
BLACKROCK LEATHER N'RICH

BRASSO - OK but steel wool and Cape Cod Polishing cloths are easier and just as effective
WEENOL - OK but steel wool and Cape Cod Polishing cloths are easier and just as effective
NO
Kiwi Saddle Soap or another brand - too alkaline, not recommended
Dawn dish soap
Palmolive dish soap - probably fine, I've never used it
VINEGAR

Cleaning Steps?
Remove accessories
Vacuum or brush inside
Remove any verdigris (green stuff on brass)

Dunk in WARM water w/ soap
SOAK 15 - 20 min
Rinse in warm water with 1/8 - 1/4 cup vinegar
BLOT with towels to absorb excess water

Stuff LIGHTLY with towel(s) to reshape
Wipe with saddle soap? NO, see above
Apply conditioner...How long after dunking the bag should conditioner be applied?
While still damp. Then every 12 to 24 hours until bag is dry and no more conditioner is sinking in. Buff with horsehair brush or microfiber cloth between coats.
Brush suede parts using a suede brush or nail brush, while still slightly damp, to restore texture

Polish brass

If I could love your reply I would lol. Thank you

When I have found some of my bags to be a little tacky, due to over conditioning, I have also found using them is also a good way to either wear off, or work in the conditioner. I started rehabbing in earnest about 3 years ago. Some of the early bags, that get or got a bit of use, need some attention/cleaning/ reconditioning regularly. So using these bags may offset any (over)conditioning.Ymmv.
I was , as you may have guessed by my posts, erring on the side of too much!!! Of everything. Dunk first and ask later! Which is maybe why I am always looking for those < $30 bags. My pleasing results are peppered with a few duds. I’d like to post some duds, but I don’t want to scare off newbies:lol:
If I've used too much conditioner, I put it out in the sun. That melts it so it can soak in easier or lets me wipe it away. You could also use a hair dryer. I had this problem when I used Obenauf's LP. I think heat was suggested on the jar. I don't use LP anymore. I don't see the benefits.

That's what I've been doing; putting it near a sunny window so it would soak in.

I have dunked a few other bags from around that manufacture time. I have been pleasantly surprised that thinner leather can also be dunked (I would guess, depending on the bag). I did more or less my standard immersion bath, with about 2 tablespoons of Lexol Cleaner in warm water. For 20 minutes, I scrubbed/brushed it as lightly as I could, as not to be abrasive to the leather surface. I paid a lot of attention to the seams, which close up you could see the dirt there. The bottom was dirty but I wasn’t concerned if that didn’t come out entirely. Gave it a rinse ( forgot vinegar in the excitement) for 10 minutes. There was no dye loss in the water. Let it drain upside down in the sink for about 20 minutes. Stuffed it with a huge beach towel. After a few hours gave it a very sparing app of CPR, as the leather was not overly dry. The next day I let it hang by the big handle hoops empty to finish drying and gave it a cloth buff and then another light app of CPR . I finished with a light app of Cadillac Supreme conditioner.
There are a few pen marks I can ignore. There is some wear on areas it is expected. There is still dirt on the bottom and a little on one corner, but overall she cleaned up wonderfully. When I look at my other bags like the brown Ranch bag or BT Oliver, it is clear I have Multiple Purse Personality Syndrome.
This big pink puddle of leather , which is what it looks like empty, is a real Diva. I’ve named her Mariah!

A question about rehab basics, leather cleaners, and conditioners for Coach Bags. Please correct me if I overlooked or misunderstood the process. What cleaners and conditioners would you recommend?...

COACH LEATHER CLEANER
COACH LEATHER LOTION CONDITIONER
LEATHER CPR
BRASSO
WEENOL
Kiwi Saddle Soap or another brand
Dawn dish soap
Palmolive dish soap

Cleaning Steps?
Remove accessories
Dunk in Hot water w/ soap
Wipe
Rinse in warm water
Wipe
Stuff with towel to reshape
Wipe with saddle soap?
Apply conditioner...How long after dunking the bag should conditioner be applied?
Polish brass

Thanks in advance
So you could get a wide variety of answers, as many of us gravitate toward a variety of products. My quote above is for a lined bag with thinner leather from around 2008 I just did a few weeks ago. But this is the basic process I have used for bags up to and as old as vintage NYC bags as well. And this process works fine for me ;) I begin applying conditioner within a few hours of dunking.
I’ll be dunking a 2000 Bleeker Mini knapsack later. I’ll post that process.

The current condition of the remember willis.

She looks navy right now, the front flap is very faded.I really thought she would be filthy...suprise...not so but very shiny.Warm water and lots of dawn to loosen that shine.

I'm really beginning to wonder?:confused1:

I’d love to see the duds haha!

I just bought a rambler, hasn’t arrived yet but looks to be in excellent shape. It may be my first dunk! Although I may be able to get away with just conditioning. I’m excited! I’ve been looking at ramblers for a while.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg This was a $5 flea market “find”. Questionable use of the word find, ha. I couldn’t pass up the rehab challenge. I am interested to see how much of the surface dirt come off and if the water stains diminish. It is from the 1999, 2000 Bleeker line with the contrast stitching. I don’t have a catalog pic for it, 9315, but I did find a Holiday catalogs for 1999 and 2000 and have catalog pics of just about all the other 930x and 931x styles. I am a sucker for that line. And this flap is smooshy soft! Even if it turns out to be a rehab dud, it will be an enjoyable dud.
ETA, hey and I just realized I get a hang tag out of it

Yep, I just didn't pay $20 for it.I ordered fiebings acylic leather dye from amazon 12 color pack, it can be used as edge kote to.Right now I'm just going to let her dry, she needs to be dunked again the front pocket is still to shiny. Then I will take better pictures and with some help figure out what her real color is.

New here; need y’alls sage advice. The Coach bag pictured was my mother’s; a couple of years ago I sent it to Coach for her, asking them to fix a brass dog latch and do something about the wear— they addressed the former, ignored the latter (but sent me a Coach dust bag I didn’t ask for, so there’s that.) Now it’s mine, and I need to do something about the wear, but I suspect conditioning will be insufficient. Does it need shoe cream? Leather dye? Or...? And if so, whose?

It needs a soak in soapy water for at least 20 minutes. Then after rinsing well, stuff lightly to dry in the correct shape. When it is almost dry, start conditioning with Leather CPR. Over the next several days, do several coats of Leather CPR with buffing in between. When it is sufficiently conditioned, do a thin coat of Blackrock Leather n Rich, buffing immediately after application with a paper towel. After a few hours, if the surface isn't tacky, buff with a soft brush. At that point, you can determine if you need to add color. My favorite approach is to find the correct color of acrylic craft paint. Mix a few drops into conditioner and apply where needed. I would avoid dyes if at all possible. Never use shoe polish.
