My next rehab victim...err, patient...arrived in the mail today. She's a bone Court from 1998, and she is stunning! Anyway, I still want to dunk her, due to staining on the bottom and random marks. I have heard white bags can be difficult, though. Is dunking the right thing to do, or should I surface clean the bag instead? If I surface clean, what do I use?

PS: My Willis is done, except for the faceplate of the turnlock. I scratched it. I'll explain later, when I post pics!

Yes, 1999 and yes mahogany. Mine was made in the same factory several months later than yours. It was one of my first vintage bags (although it wasn't technically vintage when I bought it) and the leather is amazing.

Our bags are cousins lol The set-up with the front and back pockets is perfect for me. Thanks for posting it!

I stewed and marinated her and she’s taking a rest while I have dinner and then onto some CPR! I’m looking forward to using it this weekend.

Ohh what a lovely bag she is in good condition to.
My first ever vintage a Patricia Legacy has the same color, I think that ruined me for anything new.
I have one of those 70th aniversary Willises from 2011-12 and I was so disappointed by the feel of her put me right of anything newer.

I remember those Willis bags, I wasn’t a fan. I didn’t see what all the hub-bub was about. But seeing the vintage ones, those look very nice.

Oh, I just realized you bought the one I posted in the finds thread. I was sad to see it sell so quickly, thinking that it didn't go to a tpfer! I'm so glad you got it and that it is everything you hoped for.

Reporting for work at the rescue factory, after dunking the remember willis she turned out to be a very faded navy, that I can deal with.
The horror is the shine, someone plastered her in shoe polish.Any ideas how I deal with getting rid of the polish, the only thing google came up with was saddle soap.:confused1:

I think I grabbed it maybe 15 mins after you shared it! I’ve looked every so often for one and I do have an eBay alert set for it but I don’t always pay attention to it. So I jumped!

Ok, I've done a navy NYC bag that was shoe polished and what took the polish off was...don't panic...acetone.

So I'm gathering dunking the Court is okay then? It's my first rodeo with a white bag so I want to be totally sure. I'm looking back in this thread and not seeing anything saying I can't.
I've dunked a white bag before just do the normal steps and she will clean up fine. I was cheeky and decided I was use a tiny bit bleach in the water, you can try it, but not really recommended.

Thanks @valv54, I don't panic that easy, how much more damage can one do after shoe polish, I just have to prepare properly. It has to be done outside and I have to make sure I got my nebulizer and rescue inhaler out there with me.
I will get her done.

Here she is! My newly rehabbed Willis! Last night's repair still need a bit of drying, but I figured I'd post pics anyway. Also, I'm waiting for a new turnlock. While putting the faceplate back on on Saturday, I scratched it with the tool I was using. I buffed the scratches off for the most part, but a faint trace of it remains. I know most people won't see it, but the thing is, is that *I* know it's there. So I'll be replacing it.

The strap rehabbed nicely. It was beat up when I got it (remember, the bag didn't come with a strap). A bath and conditioner got it looking better.

Anyway, it's 99% done, and I got antsy to show you all, so here she is! Yayyy!!! The third pic is the near finished repair. The last photo is the "before" pic that I took the day before I started.
