I'm nearly all happy with my Classic Shoulder Bag. I didn't want to take away all of her vintage lovliness but she needed a good bath and a lot of moisturizing! I want to work on the strap some more and there's one stubborn ink stain I'm working on hiding but it's just a line so no biggie.
Great Job! another beauty rescued!

Hi,

Thank so much for this thread - so much info and inspired me to take the plunge! I have just got a large plaza and have dunked it and it is now stuffed with towels. Am I meant to leave it standing as it dries or lying on its back? Because it has quite a large round bottom I am worried about it drying funny if it is left standing on its base if that makes sense?

Large rounded bags like the Plaza will tend to slouch a little at the bottom. I usually start out with the bag lying down, stuffed. I pat it into the shape I want it to be. After about 6 hours lying down, I stand the bag up overnight. In the morning I'll remove the towels and run them through the dryer. Then I'll restuff the bag and lay it down for a few hours, then stand it up for a while, then lay it down on the other side...just keep changing the position while it dries. When it's mostly dry I will remove the towels and let it finish drying.

She's lovely! I like the contrast of the vintage leather with the new brass hangtag!

My newest rehab project arrived yesterday, a NYC Pocket Purse. The leather on this thing is AMAZING! Super supple, clearly whomever owned this bag took really good care of it. There is no damage at all to it, it is just OLD. I plan on dunking it today and conditioning it. It feels like Costa Rica leather, only heavier.

Thank you so much! This is great advice and I'm following it. I'm excited

I think I did something akin to what Catbird with mine. I do store mine standing up, unstuffed. It is a little pooched out, but I think it is the nature of the bag. Enjoy and please post a pic!
