Okay, I found my new rehab project. Another Pocket Purse, I love that style, this time RED and made in NYC too! I am going to dunk it, so help me I am! I was apprehensive dunking a red, tell me it is gonna be okay, yes? It's in really good shape for the age- NO PEN MARKS!!! But it looks like it could use a dunk and moisturizing treatment. I am so excited!
I look forward to seeing this! Congrats!

Hello all. I purchased an old Helen's Legacy. Soaked in Dawn/water, rinsed, soaked in vinegar/water. Shaped and dried. While damp I applied Leather CPR, waited a day, applied Blackrocks. She still seems blah. I'm wondering if I should go back, wash again and do a few more Leather CPRs before Blackrocks, or if anyone has tried Leather CPR AFTER Blackrocks??? Any ideas would be welcomed.

Also, there is a red stain (pen?) that I'm wondering if there is any way to treat. I saw it as part of the listing, so it's no surprise, and I can live with it, but in case anyone has any advice for removal/hiding the stain, let me know.

Thank you!

Hi Everyone, i am a newbie, to this group and to Coach. i just purchased my first coach bag (which i LOVE) off of ebay last week; it is in pretty good shape, especially given its age, but i would like to clean it up a bit. I have searched the forums on how to clean sateen (i believe the fabric is sateen, as that is what it was listed as on ebay, but like i said, i am new, so i'm not super sure) and seen lots of different options. i guess my main questions are, is this bag sateen, and if so, what would be the best way to clean it? i'm leaning towards spraying it with spray and wash then spraying it with water to rinse, then dry it; but if there is a better way, please let me know!!

thanks so much in advance!!

I don't think re-washing it will make much difference.

I would probably have used 2 or 3 coats of CPR, buffing well with a horsehair brush between coats, before the Blackrock.

I have put CPR on top of Blackrock, and saw some improvement in the softness, depth and smoothness of the finish.

I highly recommend the horsehair brush to help the conditioners penetrate and bring out the shine.

I would wash it. I don't think the leather will bleed but that is always a risk. The sateen can be cleaned with anything that is safe for fabric. The leather will only water spot if it gets unevenly wet. The trim along the top is delicate.

You can use a spray cleaner that doesn't need rinsing but I think the stains will need something stronger. So probably soap or detergent and water, but you'll have to rinse well, which will probably get the leather wet. Wrap in towels to pat dry, than lay it out to dry. The fabric might wrinkle. You can press it with an iron but you'll have to be very careful to avoid the leather.

I'm sure it's been talked about before but can anything be done to clean up super rusty feet on a stewardess or legacy zip bag. I'm thinking using some good old brillo/steel wool pad while in the bath will do some good.

That should work. Also vinegar. Then maybe you could coat them with clear fingernail polish to keep them from rusting again.
