Washing as in washing machine? I have known people who throw their sateen bags in the wash and they came out like new. I've never had a sateen to try it myself, but I'd do it if I found a rehab project one.I would wash it. I don't think the leather will bleed but that is always a risk. The sateen can be cleaned with anything that is safe for fabric. The leather will only water spot if it gets unevenly wet. The trim along the top is delicate.
You can use a spray cleaner that doesn't need rinsing but I think the stains will need something stronger. So probably soap or detergent and water, but you'll have to rinse well, which will probably get the leather wet. Wrap in towels to pat dry, than lay it out to dry. The fabric might wrinkle. You can press it with an iron but you'll have to be very careful to avoid the leather.
I usually just wash in the sink. I've only washed one bag in the machine. I didn't see much improvement but it was leather, not fabric. I know several people have washed bags in the machine with great results.Washing as in washing machine? I have known people who throw their sateen bags in the wash and they came out like new. OP- Do you have a lingerie bag? Maybe throw it in the wash on delicate cycle in that?
**I've never done this, so don't quote me as gospel**
I've washed quite a few fabric bags in the washing machine. One of my favorite bags, a poppy hippy bag the one with the patent trim, was looking really grimy so i threw it in tied in a pillowcase with some other towels on delicate with some regular tide and it came out great. Also i have a front load washer so stuff doesn't get "beat up" so much. I didn't wash the strap though on that one because it's just a black fabric strap no leather or patent. I've washed plenty of all leather bags in the washer too. I just find it easier and i can wash multiple of the same color at once each tied in a pillowcase with some extra towels or something added. Then the spin gets more of the excess water out so i can hang them to start drying and start applying conditioner sooner.I usually just wash in the sink. I've only washed one bag in the machine. I clean the lining of dirty preloved bags with Folex-it makes the lining look brand new. It works great on every fabric, carpet, etc. I've tried it on. It works especially well on dirt. Spray it on and gently rub it in, then blot the dirt away with a cloth. Amazing! Even if you end up washing the bag, this will pull a lot of the dirt out so there will be less to spread around. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Folex-36-oz-Carpet-Spot-Remover-FSR36/202820334Hi Everyone, i am a newbie, to this group and to Coach. i just purchased my first coach bag (which i LOVE) off of ebay last week; it is in pretty good shape, especially given its age, but i would like to clean it up a bit. I have searched the forums on how to clean sateen (i believe the fabric is sateen, as that is what it was listed as on ebay, but like i said, i am new, so i'm not super sure) and seen lots of different options. i guess my main questions are, is this bag sateen, and if so, what would be the best way to clean it? i'm leaning towards spraying it with spray and wash then spraying it with water to rinse, then dry it; but if there is a better way, please let me know!!
thanks so much in advance!!

Yes, I would. It looks really uneven. It may have changed the leather texture.https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.ca/ulk/itm/273857820887

Oh, it looks beautiful! Great job!I'm nearly all happy with my Classic Shoulder Bag. I didn't want to take away all of her vintage lovliness but she needed a good bath and a lot of moisturizing! I want to work on the strap some more and there's one stubborn ink stain I'm working on hiding but it's just a line so no biggie.
