Some nice rehabs... Before

After.. This still has a couple of spots but is useable now.. I used it yesterday. The flap is unbelievably dry. It seems to have a matte finish while the rest of the bag is shiny. I keep applying more and more conditioner to it

The manor bag was pretty beat up and still has a lot of scratches. I had to use acrylic on the edges.I love this bag! Borrowed a suitable strap from my collection... Pretty charm and she's ready.View attachment 4304372
Hello Belicious, are you able to share how you use acrylic? Thanks!

Hello Whateve! would this method be to avoid overheating the motor on a machine that is not designed to sew leather? Thanks for all your help!!!!
That would be one reason. The main reason is for better control. If possible, I want to use the holes that are already there, not punch new ones with my needle. Also when you use the original holes, the needle slides in much easier.

Oh this poor bag! It's so dead.. Idk who will pay $25 for this dead bag.

When I see bags like this, I wonder when did they realize it was too beat up to use anymore? For most of us, that would have been years ago.

It's not the site, it's the seller.

OK now, that is dead. Looks like it was actually buried for several months...

The buckles and possibly the interior pocket could be salvaged. I would probably pay $1 for it, plus shipping, if I needed a donor bag or something to practice setting rivets or sewing on.

Rehab pics!

Well, for once I took my own advice regarding light-colored bags and I rehabbed a bag that was already in good shape and didn't need a lot of work - and it came out great! I should listen to myself more often!

I recently picked up a British Tan Shelburne Flap 9038 for $20 at the Goodwill. The bag originally sold for $228 when it was released in 1998.

It was a little dirty and misshapen and the corners were worn, and it was missing the hangtag - but generally it was in very good condition for a bag that is 21 years old.

It was judged genuine by two of our wonderful authenticators @BeenBurned and @whateve; here are the before pics.

Below are after pics of the British Tan Shelburne Flap 9038 from 1998 that I found at Goodwill for $20. It just needed a bath and reshaping, a little conditioner and some Black Rocks, and a new hangtag. Easy peasy!

@whateve kindly shared the catalog page below showing the bag in mahagony which was very helpful because I have seen the name of this bag misspelled.

As for the backpack the strap stitching is broken on one side. I tried to glue it but no glue will hold. I tried e6000 then super glue
So I bought leather needles for my sewing machine. I've always wanted to try sewing leather on my machine. I wonder if it will work...
What kind of sewing machine do you have? I have an industrial singer that I have used for sewing vinyl for upholstering chairs. You'll need special needle and a powerful sewing machine.
