Hello all,
Can these bags be put in a bath? I believe they are called basic bag (11"Wx7"Hx2"depth) but I am concerned about the tag inside, I think this is the one that is glued in. Any danger that the tag will fall off? Thank you!

Yes, they can be bathed. I've bathed a few bags that had the glued-in tag. I think all but one of them stayed glued in place. The one that fell off I just glued back on using Fiebing's Leather Cement.

That's a Taylor Zip #9944. This shows what the zipper pull looked like.

Since yours seems to have the hang tag, the simplest thing might be to attach the chain to the zipper pull ring, using the hang tag as a replacement pull. Or you could search eBay for "Coach replacement zipper pull" for other options.

Hello all! I haven’t been in this thread for a while, I have recently been noticing the difference in the ways the vintage bags always had letter to finish the edges. Now there is so much edge coating, and eventually it cracks. I found an other wise beautiful swagger at a local antique store with edge coat issues. I debated getting it, but I passed.
I do have a stewardess in need of some brass eyelets. I think four are missing, I’m guessing I’ll need to replace them all so they match.Any suggestions?

Some nice rehabs... Before
Got a sweet little pile of rehab from my Goodwill today. I particularly can't wait to wash the red City bag as it's so dirty and dry but little else wrong with it. Should be an easy cleanup job. Also the manor bag I'm pretty excited as I've never even seen one before. I hope the edges get some color back in them.View attachment 4279784
Got these little things too. I'm a bit scared of washing the thing with the embroidery. I'm worried it might fall apart or colors might runView attachment 4279787
Nice to see pictures are working today. I might see if I can share some successful rehabs if I get time.
After.. This still has a couple of spots but is useable now.. I used it yesterday. The flap is unbelievably dry. It seems to have a matte finish while the rest of the bag is shiny. I keep applying more and more conditioner to it

The manor bag was pretty beat up and still has a lot of scratches. I had to use acrylic on the edges.I love this bag! Borrowed a suitable strap from my collection... Pretty charm and she's ready.1547397518579306300246682630187.jpg

As for the backpack the strap stitching is broken on one side. I tried to glue it but no glue will hold. I tried e6000 then super glue
So I bought leather needles for my sewing machine. I've always wanted to try sewing leather on my machine. I wonder if it will work...
I've done it on my machine. I used hand control to get it to hit in the holes that were already there. I didn't buy special needles.

Most shoe repair shops can do it, or you can do it yourself:

https://www.tandyleather.com/en/category/grommets-eyelets
https://www.tandyleather.com/en/product/eyelet-setters-w-anvil
https://www.acehardware.com/departments/tools/hand-tools/plier-sets/2829406

There are different sizes of eyelets, so you'll want to measure the holes in the strap so you get the right size eyelets if you're doing it yourself.
