And the biggest problem I can see right now is the uneven colors. I tried 3 different conditioners on the strap, and I think I liked Blackrocks best, but I'm waiting for it to really sink in there before I really commit.

Some of the old lighter colored dyes ( the pond and rose for sure) on the Legacy bags don't prevent the aging/ darkening of the vachetta from coming through. It kind of looks like a yellowing or salmon color in some areas. My Pond shoulder bag has kind of turned into more of a green and the Rose has areas that look more salmon in color as they age or patina and the yellow comes through. They don't age as nicely as the blacks or the Whiskey and Walnut.

Okay so I just did something I said I would never do I picked up a white patent leather used bag.
I found it with the coupon for $18 shipped. A Francie.
Have any of you worked with any of the newer patent leather paint to try in remove stains or spots? Bleach pens on white patent?
There's a ton of information on refurbishing patent shoes on youtube, but spot painting on Patent seems a little impossible.
It hasn't come yet so I'm not sure of the extent of the stains but my first course of action will be acitone or alcohol on any thing that looks like color transfer. A general cleaning with leather CPR and maybe vigegar.
I'm kind of already regretting this purchase.

I would probably try spot-treating with bleach to try and remove stains from patent leather, but I would test it first in a spot that doesn't show, to see how the bleach affects the surface.

I recently dunked and rehabbed a Black Patent Coach Kisslock Ergo and it came out great, see the links below. After you finish cleaning the bag, you can use lemon Pledge polish to restore the shine.

I have never attempted a white patent 65th Anniversary Legacy bag but I have dunked a few legacy pieces with striped lining and they came out fine, but again, not white patent leather.

One thing that made me nervous about the black ergo was that the patent leather become cloudy gray looking in spots after it got wet - mostly along the stitching. I was afraid that it would stay that way forever and I massaged it with towels to try and dry out the leather while it was drying. But after it dried completely the color returned to normal and the cloudiness went away.

The Francine is such a gorgeous bag, please let us know how the rehab works out, good luck!

Here is my ancient flight bag cleaned and conditioned. Many spots came out. Unbelievably badly dirty especially on the hardware and mountains of dirt in the bathtub afterwards! This bag is very unstructured and soooo soft!

After: still has a large water stain but I could put a charm or scarf on the strap over the stain.

This side is very dry and might look better after some blackrocks. So far she's had CPR and 2 applications of obenaufs. I love this bag! It's really big compared to the newer flight bags. Here is a comparison

Yummy! Enjoy! Where did you find her? Online? GW? Flea market?

Yeah that strap hardware is really pretty. Nice shape to it. I don't think I'd attach a strap to it though. It seems like it's too big to wear as a crossbody I think.

I like that side ring too. I looked up the only catalog image I've seen for this bag (poor resolution, sorry!), and it does just barely show a shoulder strap in the picture. For a travel bag, it's always nice to have the option of slinging it over your shoulder while juggling other luggage.

You worked some magic on that bag...nice job!

Here's some good news on the odor front. I treated my very stinky bag that smelled like it had been drenched with men's cologne. I hung it outside for several days, but I think what really worked was Febreze free nature. It says on the bottle not to use on leather. Water and alcohol are among the ingredients. I was afraid to spray the exterior leather much so I sprayed the suede parts several times during the time it was hanging inside. When I brought it in to wash, the odor was much diminished - mostly gone on the suede parts. The worst part was the strap because that hadn't gotten near the spray at all. I bathed it. I drained all the water off, rinsed it, then sprayed it with Febreze again. This time I hit the smooth leather parts. Then I rinsed really well, and continued the rehab. I don't see any evidence of the spray spotting the leather, and the leather is still supple and soft. I think there is still a faint smell on the top of the strap. Maybe I missed a spot.

Out at a flea market today. In the last aisle I was walking through, from 4 different sellers, I picked these up. Apparently I have no impulse control! Set me back a total of $15 bucks : )View attachment 4207304
Wow! I have a similar pink purse! It's from the Parker line. The leather was called gelato because it is so squishy.

Jealous! Been eyeing a Winnie but could not find one for less than $100. I totally would have bought all those too. Enjoy!
