I just bought a stewardess that smelled to high hell of cigarettes, I put white vinegar in my dunk water with dawn dish soap and let it soak. Absolutely no smell anymore. Try not to get addicted like I did, and have one lucky thrift find suddenly become 10 bags you now don't know what to do with lol.

Haha! Good luck on trying not to get addicted. I started with the Station Bag, I now how 7 with three more on its way in a span of five months.

Lol I am two years in and I am up about 2 dozen from the handful I started with! I know there are posters here with significantly more!
I beat you all! I've cut back significantly but I know I had over 50 at one time.

Well that’s good news! I’m going to try my dunk w/vinegar over the weekend, fingers crossed. The seller was nice when I contacted, offered a discount or return, so I’m going to keep it.

I'm seeing a light brown, medium tobacco brown, brown, and cognac, which all look very similar. Which one is like BT?

I have been thinking about this for a few days. I did the order a year ago. I believe I actually wanted to find a match for my Ranch bag in brown. It’s that shade of brown that’s a warm chocolatey shade, that has burgundy tones in certain lighting . A few of us have talked about that on one of these threads. So I believe I chose the medium brown because it made sense for that bag. Then I get the bottle of colorant, and it turns out to be more of a copper shade, and clearly from looking at it, it was a better match for BT. Since I just happened to have a Brit that needed a little love, I thought why not test it . .

Ha! I need to muster the courage, I would really hate to ruin this bag and might just use it as is. The stain doesn’t really show while I’m wearing it.
Yes, yes. This cannot be emphasized enough. If you are unfamiliar with a process, you don’t want to experiment on a purse/bag/tote you are attached to!
ETA, I probably don’t need to say this, but failed rehab bags and cheap * what will I use this for* bags are great for experimenting!

I am thinking of a wallet to go with my new laced leather soho bag and I am tempted by the natural, laced wallet on ebay at the link below, with shipping the cost will be about the same as I paid for the bag. I'm hesitating because I already have lots and lots of wallets of many sizes and shapes and colors!

I am thinking of using one of my bleecker wallets with the soho bag instead. Also below are pictures of both my Bleecker wallets in Ink and Black with brass hardware; what do you think would be a good wallet for this bag?

I love the laced wallet! I think it might be lighter in color than your bag. I also don't think it is a full sized wallet.

I like the laced wallet since the bag and wallet are so unique and together even more so!
I'm late to the discussion but I prefer the matched set when possible.

No shocked face here!
I am not one to name names  People can out themselves if they chose.
I do not count mine. But once I did a sorta rough estimate and it was quite scary. Also I have been doing my best lately to cut back. I have sold 20 in the past month, gave a few a way too. I have space issues as you can imagine, and I really need the money too. I particularly want to get rid of my Dooneys but I feel like they possibly won't sell for hardly anything and I do actually really like most of them a lot.. which makes it hard to part with them for nothing. Maybe in fall...

I love your duffle collection you shared a photo of at one point - hanging on a wall. What style are they? i love bags like this on fall/winter weekends.....just throw stuff in and go as well as collect stuff along the way if needed.

I believe the style is 9085 in the large bucket bag. I also have one that is pre creed without the piping around the bottom. I'm too scared to ever use that one as it's taupe and I'm scared of ruining it which is silly since it's already broken in! I also have 2 of the medium size duffles, I think 9953, Helen's Legacy. I'm using my black one right now. It's big enough I can stand my gym water bottle up in it. I like how if it gets overfull I can just use it without zipping it up.

I need opinions. To dunk or not to dunk?

I gifted a BT one to my sister. She needed two. Don’t ask. I know she wants to be able to tell them apart quickly, so I picked up this one in black. Looks like it was stuck in a visor. I’d like to get that out.

Can you feel if there's cardboard inside? That might be the deciding factor. If no cardboard I think it would probably be OK.

Is that pigskin on the inside? I recall someone (@whateve maybe) dunked a Gramercy with pigskin lining.

I think the leather is thin like on a wallet and a dunking won't make a significant difference except to make it more wrinkled looking. I would try ironing it with steam under a press cloth. I don't think that is pigskin inside.

I don't think I dunked the Gramercy.

Back again for some advice. I just got the coach binocular bag and she’s pretty. I don’t think she needs a dunk but I always feel better after washing a bag that wasn’t originally mine. However, I found a lining inside the flap which I wasn’t sure what. I can feel that there is also the same reinforcement at the bottom. Is it cardboard or some other material safe to be washed? Thanks

I dunked a Binocular Bag with no problems. At the time I didn't realize there was cardboard inside, so I was fearless. Now I would probably only dunk if it really needed it, and would not leave it in the water very long.

I would be a little concerned about your cardboard being partially detached already, and soaking it might not be a good idea. The bag looks pretty clean and well shaped. I'd probably just vacuum/brush out the inside, and condition it well on the outside (a couple of light coats of CPR, buff with horsehair brush, final coat of Blackrock and buff).

Thank you. Yes, I decided to just dry clean it, vacuumed the inside and will condition later.
