Thanks! I've edited my post above to show pics of both the ink and black bleecker wallets, which do you think would work best?
I like the black one. I like the way it contrasts with the bag. I think whateve is right that the lighter laced wallet might be not be the same color as the bag. I think the black contrast would be nice.

The laced one is pretty, too, though. I don't think you'll go wrong either way.

Kiwi suede cleaner didn't work for me at all. If I was feeling adventurous, I would wash it in the washing machine. Brush it with the nail brush before it is completely dry.
I briefly dunked and gently brushed the bag (so far so good, but it's still wet). If your washing machine was the front-loading HE type (that uses less water), would you machine-wash it? Do you recommend anything else while it dries or afterwards? Thanks again! (I hope not to ruin my mom's little bag)

Hi, I was wondering if any one was familiar with this bag. I saw one at my friends shop today in a pretty dark green for $42. I have never rehabbed a bag yet, but I did buy a Liz Claiborne that has similar leather to practice on, I just haven’t had time to do it yet. I may go by tomorrow and get it, I just wanted to research it a bit first. Unfortunately, I can’t find the name of it anywhere. I found this picture, but it had already sold on Etsy and she just had it listed as a satchel. I would really appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks so much. IMG_7262.jpg

It's a called a Scout Bag, style #9890.

So I've been reading for the past couple hours and searching various topics, and I'm kinda stuck on what to do with my bag, the Bonnie Cashin Era shopper.

It's so old and in good condition that I've considered just reshaping with steam and conditioning and calling it a day. On the other hand, it's got a bunch of light general wear throughout, so I'm also debating just giving it some light loving to get it shining again! I'm definitely not currently feeling brave enough to dunk, but if it didn't ruin the base I feel like a dunk would just be the right thing to get it glowing since the wear is light and the kinds of wear it shows are so varied (water stains, darkening, scuffs of some sort, streaks of some sort, unidentified white marks, unidentified black marks!)

Alternatively, have you ever surface cleaned a bag without dunking? Very curious to hear your thoughts and how you'd go about treating this little old lady! Feel free to direct me to search something up - I find it very fun to hunt for information

Personally I wouldn't dunk either. I wouldn't want to take the risk. The Bonnie Cashin bags have thinner leather than bags they made later, so it wouldn't plump up as much as a regular rehab. I would clean with vinegar, and then condition.

A Liz Claiborne isn't going to rehab like a Coach. Nothing will rehab like a Coach. If you feel you need practice, you should practice on a Coach.

I am thinking of a wallet to go with my new laced leather soho bag and I am tempted by the natural, laced wallet on ebay at the link below, with shipping the cost will be about the same as I paid for the bag. I'm hesitating because I already have lots and lots of wallets of many sizes and shapes and colors!

I am thinking of using one of my bleecker wallets with the soho bag instead. Also below are pictures of both my Bleecker wallets in Ink and Black with brass hardware; what do you think would be a good wallet for this bag?

I like the laced wallet since the bag and wallet are so unique and together even more so!

I wouldn’t dunk either. I’d rub on Leather CPR and wipe with a soft cloth to clean and then apply Leather CPR to condition and then finish lightly with Blackrock.

Congrats on your bag. I really can't offer any advice, as I have no experience with lined vintage bags. And the person I would get advice from has weighed in already;)

Hi everyone! I’m fairly new here and I’m loving this forum, thank you to the moderators and authenticators who generously give their time and expertise. I just started collecting vintage coach bags and had a few successes rehabing them. I only had re-dyed black ones though and that is where my confidence ends. I would like to redye other colors like camel tan or british tan. What would be the best dyes for these? Any tip is appreciated. Thank you.
I am completely sold on recolorant/dye called Saphir Juvacuir. I googled Saphir leather products after they were mentioned on this thread. I applied it to a universally faded black Plaza bag and Pocket purse, and the leather feels fine. And they have a medium brown that I feel is a dead on match for British tan. I touched up a BT Classic Compartment tote with scratches and wear on the edges.
If you do a search on this thread for Saphir, my posts as well as others will come up. It is not exactly cheap with shipping, but I am very pleased with my results.

I'm seeing a light brown, medium tobacco brown, brown, and cognac, which all look very similar. Which one is like BT?

I did not use any of those choices. I ordered mine a year ago from a website for The Hanger Project. They offered Juvacuir in medium brown.
I initially ordered Saphir through Amazon, but got a message a few days later saying the order could not be processed, to that effect. Then I went through The Hanger Project.
