Oh my goodness. You’re brave! In the washing machine? That scares the &@#$ out of me. Won’t it shrink, ruin the suede, or cause the colors to bleed? I have one of those front loading HE machines that doesn’t fill up with water... Would that be a problem? Oh boy, this terrifies me.
Cows get wet regularly. They don't shrink. I don't think it would be a problem.

Well, she's ugly and the flap faded a little but the color kept. Not really sure what else to do for it.
Oh, I love that style! There was a picture in the reference library of that bag that got me started in collecting vintage. https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/post-your-vintage-classic-pieces-here.292004/#post-8144739
I think I would be tempted to paint it. You can use wood n stuff leather refinisher: https://www.wood-n-stuff.com/leatheraid.html It is kind of plasticky so try to put it on in as thin of a layer as you can. You only need a 1 ounce sample size bottle.

The yellow is what got me, my husband suggested that I dye it too. I really love this little guy I was planning to use it as a vacation bag

bwahahahaa! :lol::giggle: :lol:
I've been lurking on this thread, yesterday I thought I had done something really dumb (washed my Hermes Silk'in wallet) and a dear tPFer steered (see what I did there?) me here to see if anyone had done something similar and to calm me down.
I think it's going to be okay - it's still damp though - and this thread was very helpful.
Thank you! :flowers:

On advice here I put a teal suede haversack with anniversary lining through the gentle cycle in an old school top loader :yes: Did just fine. And hyperventilated a good 10 minutes into the cycle.

I have a light blue suede one I need to try washing in the washer! The pockets look pretty dirty. My pink one still looks clean.
I would like to run it through the washer again; but would first like to give it a brief warm water soak and light scrub. I wish I had given it a little soak/scrub before washing it. I had done a little spot cleaning.
I know as a vintage enthusiasist, I have opinions about made in China bags; regardless I have to give Coach credit for the structural integrity of the bag for standing up to machine washing.

I finished the rehab that I was working on at the same time as the Soho Laced Flap Buckskin Bag and here are some teaser pics.

Here's a few hints, the bag is a satchel and it was released in Spring 2008 and originally retailed for $498, any guesses?

I think that this is the first entirely patent leather bag that I have rehabbed. I've probably done some rehabs that had patent trim before but this bag is all patent and it got the full treatment because it was filthy - especially the interior.

I gave it a bath and scrubbed and scrubbed and then repeated the process. A shoe repairman once told me to use lemon Pledge on patent leather and that's what I did and it restored the shine beautifully - without leaving any sticky or greasy residue.

I didn't use the spray can of pledge, I used the "Pledge Lemon Clean Wipes - Dust, Clean, Shine" and they worked great. They do have a slight lemon odor, but it is pleasant and it fades quickly. Here's a picture, I got it at my local grocery supermarket.
