The faded handle and stain were not disclosed on the listing. Actually, it was listed as VGUC and Excellent vintage condition. The seller took pictures indoors so the faded handle was not visible. But when i take it outside or under bright light, it's very noticeable. My daughter even said, "the handle looks green and bag is navy blue." You may be right... perhaps the handle was replaced at one point.

But i'm afraid i'll be stuck paying for return shipping if i try to return.
If it is not as described, the seller has to pay the shipping.

Yes this. You should probably return it. Seller should be more careful to describe item's condition in future!

Beyond the usual dawn, vinegar or castille soap, does anyone have any good stain removal ideas I haven't tried? I have a bag with a water mark I can't get out, and one with weird spatters pretty much all over it I need to think outside the box to try something different.

Well this is definitely outside the box, but whole milk is supposed to remove some stains. I haven't tried it myself but it might be worth Googling.

I haven't ventured in to rehabbing yet but I know if I have oil spots on clothes that Lestoil takes it out. May be too harsh for the leather, though. Just a thought!

Wouldn't paint prevent leather from being reconditioned?
I don't think there's any difference between acrylic wall paint and acrylic fabric paint, except the thickness. If you diluted the wall paint with conditioner, I don't see why it would be a problem, applied to small areas of the bag. You're just harvesting the pigments from the paint, so to speak.

Diluted sounds doable.. straight on seems like it would be too thick. Hmm. I wonder if they could just color match and put that mix of pigments straight into my gallon of conditioner. I don't have a gallon of conditioner though. Lol!
