I have a question and if this isn't the right forum, please let me know...

Has anyone ever had a bag made into something else? Like, taken the leather from a bag and made a totally different item with it? I want to make an agenda/planner cover with leather from a bag.

I'm pretty sure this is like blasphemy on a purse blog. Please don't stone me. It was just an idea I had.

I’ve made tassels like the one below from a fake coach bag (real leather).

That's beautiful! I love how big it is. I tried to make a tassel once but old Coach leather was much too thick and I couldn't work with it. It didn't look right and I couldn't roll it up.

This leather was pretty thick and tough so it took some working with it to get it the way I wanted. I’m going to attempt to make this next:

With the discussion on the Rogue Club thread, there has been a lot of mention of the pitting/rusting of the hardware on the Rogue 36 in blue suede. I think the hardware is black copper. I've had mine in a dust bag for about a year now. Just looked at it and I can see some pitting. I don't have any of the rust issues. Wondering if there is anything I can do to the hardware to stop it from getting worse such as coat it with clear nail polish? I'd have to hold the ring while it dried so the leather interior doesn't get ruined. Anyone else have any ideas or try anything that has worked? TIA

Bought this dino patch and glued it to a leather scrap from a faux Coach and cut it to shape. Punched a hole and added the ring and chain. Just something fun to add some color.
What a great idea! I need to look for some patches to try this with, since I have a collection of odd leather scraps in search of a project.
